The movie is a compilation of occurrences that happened to different ballplayers: -In an exhibition game in Chattanooga, TN in 1931 a 17-year-old GIRL named Jackie Mitchell struck out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig on six pitches. -"Shoeless" Joe Jackson named his bats. -Ted Williams said that all he ever wanted was to walk down the street and hear people say, "There goes the greatest hitter who ever lived." -Yogi Berra said, "You can't spell it but it eats pretty good." -1950s Phillies star first baseman Eddie Waitkus was shot in a hotel room by a crazed female fan and survived. -1940s star Brooklyn Dodgers outfielder 'Pistol" Pete Reiser seriously impaired his health and career with his habit of crashing into outfield walls, although didn't die from it. -In a Braves/Dodgers game in 1946 Braves outfielder Bama Rowell shattered the Bolova clock on the Ebbits Field scoreboard for a home run. Bulova offered a free watch to any player who shattered the clock, but Rowell didn't get his watch until 1987! -In the 1971 All-Star game Reggie Jackson hit a home run that hit the top of the the lights (but didn't shatter them.) -Hobbs home run in the end is evocative of Bobby Thompson's walk-off home run in the 1951 Dodgers/Giants playoff game dubbed, "The shot heard round the world."

YES! Maya Rudolph as Judge Gen is incredible, cherish every moment we get of her!! This episode is so good and I love how contrasting the tests are. Tahani's is a straight punch to the gut and Eleanor is definitive proof of how far she's progressed (I mean, not only as she completely selflss but she also showed how genuine of a connection she has formed with Chidi, something pre-death Eleanor would've never done). Jason gets the basic dumb task we all expected him to get, but then Chidi gets one of those as well - which I think it's good, it shows how much room his character still has to develop and change. Every bit of this show is so good <3

Wife here. Fun seeing your faces when you found out about Bob on down low. Also when Sally catches Don .

One of my favorite little moments from this episode is when Michael calls Shawn basic and says "It's devastating. You're devastated right now." It just always makes me giggle. And I want to say that as a follow up if I ever have to "insult" someone. "You're devastated right now." Lol.

Don finally gets caught

Besides Chidi taking nearly an hour and a half to choose a fedora, the most shocking part of the episode (to me) was that Tahani actually cares that much what Blue Ivy and North West think of her. WHAT!!!😂

Please please please please please don't try to predict the next twist. So many reactors make that mistake. Just enjoy the show as it happens.

I also don't know Take That's music (way after my time) but I know a bit about their lore. Robbie Williams left the group and was like the Beyonce or Justin Timberlake of the group in that he became equally (if not more) successful as a solo artist and kept winning a whole bunch of awards in the process. I believe he's the most awarded artist at the Brits - which is the closest UK equivalent to the Grammys. If I'm not mistaken, Robbie and the group were massive basically everywhere except the US.

Had to laugh at Joe and Kevin both going on about white/black and good/bad while they're both wearing black shirts. Disappointed, thought you were both the white shirt/white hat guys! Great recap, guys.

the writing in this show is truly brilliant. Usually you can't guess the twists before they happen... but once they are revealed you look back and think "of COURSE... how could it have ever played out any differently"

You talk to much

I think the thing this show gets right more than any other show is how thick teens are. Of course they put 20 scones in a toilet and flushed, teens never think things through. Also in Michelle's defense as a friend, as I've had friends as such, is that she is an instigator and a friend group needs that. A friend who always has ideas and is down for anything is often an amazing friend, even though some of their ideas are terrible.

YES! I've just finished watching Arrested Development for the first time and it was HYSTERICAL! I avoided it for years because it didn't seem like the kind of thing I would like, but decided to watch it after loving every second we got of Jessica Walter's Mallory in Archer. Best decision ever, I laughed to the point of tears multiple times lol

Great Redford movies i really like:: The Last Castle, The Electric Horseman, All is Lost, A Walk in the Woods, Jeremiah Johnson, and the Horse Whisperer.

You guys gotta figure out a way to edit more of the movie in and less of you talking, or the channel will never amount to anything. This is about giving the audience what they want, just like making a movie.

If I'm not mistaken, the movie actually had a moderate budget. Many of the actors did not have high salaries. Darren McGavin did it for union scale after offering to work for nothing because he loved the script so much.

This is the episode I like to suggest for people as a great introduction to the show. It has every strength about the show- funny moments, heavier moments, great debate, tackling an issue with poise- all dialed in and perfectly balanced in 42 minutes Plus with a lot of the episode being from the point-of-view of Ainsley, a hesitant but bright-eyed newcomer to this administration, a new watcher can be “introduced” to the characters/environment along with her. It’s the perfect gateway episode into the show IMO

One thing I love about this show is that when you first start watching it, you assume the term "Derry girls" only refers to the kids, but when you get into the show it's clear it refers just as much to the adult women in the show as well

I discovered this show back in 2020 (?) when the cast participated in The Great British Baking show - one of the holiday specials. They were hilarious so I searched for the show.

This doesn't predate anti-heros. Anti-heros were big in the late 60s and 70s. Maybe it's just a pendulum swing back to wholesomeness. Just like plot twists can be overdone now, it might be time for more direct story telling for a while, where things are just what they appear to be
