__Description__
This video explores Ludwig Hilberseimer’s radical urban vision for Chicago in the 1940s and 50s that reimagined urban living. His plan was to transform Chicago into a city of decentralized, self-sufficient islands. This concept was based on the idea of functional zoning and accessible green spaces, and it sought to enhance the quality of life and ensure sustainable development. Hilberseimer's ideas were influenced by the Bauhaus movement, and his theories were partially realized in Detroit's Lafayette Park neighborhood.

    Planned economies never work. Planned cities will never be as successful as advertised. The only chance that one can successfully make a Planned city is by accomplishing 3 things first. 1. Continuously be purging (firing, retiring, ect) corrupt or inept government officials from their jobs/offices. 2. Keep all forms of crime under control with the goal of eliminating it. When there is no crime, it is a lot easier to convince people and businesses to move where you want them. No business or family will want to remain in a high crime are. Look at California or New York City for examples. 3. Build and maintain the infrastructure in such a way that will encourage people to voluntarily move to live or work. This is due to it being cheaper, safer, and faster. If you successfully accomplish these 3 things and can maintain it, a planned city can be created and survive. The instant one of these 3 requirements fail, the system will begin to unravel.

    Wright's ability to manipulate three dimensions in his head is no less impressive than Mozart's ability to manipulate musical ideas in his. Wright fully designed Falling Water in his mind and drew it on paper in a single session. Yes, all those other things were necessary steps along the way, but without his special ability he could not have been what he was: one of America's greatest artists.

    As an architect. Yes. It will fail. I specifically had a class in college about urban models from the 19th century that failed horribly. There is a city model that works, look for garden city by le corbusier. Save space with tons of big, tall buildings and allow useful nature to grow back every other city block. But you can't earn billions with real estate speculation, by giving people good places to live. Every single urban problem you know has a proven solution since the 60s, but we are denied them.

    Architects and Planners are very good at thinking and drawing very logically taking every aspect into consideration … EXCEPT … They seem to think of People as Bees or Ants that have no individual personality or thought process. In Greater NYC Metro I have seen many of these types of “Plans” which start out alright but after 20-30 years simply no longer function as planned and usually become undesirable, low rent slums &/or ghettos but certainly don’t live up to the original concept.

  • @Bay0Wulf
    @Bay0Wulf Před 2 dny

    Yeah … this guy probably thinks that “the Line” city/building in the MidEast was a “Great Idea” … even though it barely got started before it stumbled to a stop. This is just another way to try to make Agenda 21 more palatable. Notice a high reliance on the term “Collective” … Oh yes … a Socialistic willingness for all residents to … “cooperate”.
