Around Toronto in 3 Minutes: A Drive on Highways 401, 427, Gardiner, and DVP
Distance: 68 km / 42 miles
Time: July 2010
Camera: Sony HDR-CX300
Source Format: AVCHD, 1920x1080/60i, 24 mbps
Editing Software: Corel VideoStudio Pro X3
Music: DJ Dean - It's a Dream
Okay, so I lied a little - this so-called "Toronto ring" doesn't actually encircle all of Toronto anymore, since the city is now much larger. This is true more or less in all directions (especially the north, since a large portion of North York is actually north of Highway 401). In the south, however, the Gardiner does form a boundary, since that is where the city meets Lake Ontario.
The drive begins on Allen Road, an expressways I often use to access Highway 401.
From then, we take Highway 401 west to the interchange with Highway 427.
We then take the 427 south to the point where it splits into the Queen Elizabeth Way (west) and the Gardiner Expressway (east)
We take the Gardiner eastbound and pass through downtown Toronto (the view is quite nice from there). This urban freeway passes more or less parallel to the shoreline of Lake Ontario.
We then take the ramp to the Don Valley Parkway (DVP) and continue northbound on the eastern wing of the "ring". This freeway passes along the Don River Valley, hence the name. However, it is often sarcastically known as the Don Valley Parking Lot, and soon enough in the video you will see why (note that the video was made on a weekend). It is the only freeway that brings commuter traffic from several suburbs into downtown Toronto, and hence tends to be jammed. However, it is quite a scenic drive compared to the other freeways. The big bridge at around 1:53 is part of the Bloor-Danforth subway line.
We continue on the DVP until the interchange with Highway 401. From this point on, the DVP continues north as Highway 404. Instead of continuing north, however, we take the ramp back onto the westbound 401 and then exit back onto Allen Road (this time northbound). This is one of rare occasions where an exit is located on the left side of the freeway.
Well, this is it for another video. I hope you enjoyed.

    Nazareth looks like Hollywood, highway 6 looks like route 20 from the Mother Lode to Fort Bragg, and some parts of Be'er Sheva sort of looks like part of Sacramento. I do notice there has not been a whole lot of development in the state of Israel, were here in California there are so many ugly building crushing us in. I think I'll move to Israel. But I can do the heat. Interesting video though.

    The reason why everyone hates israel is because they hate the relegion, A smart man said "If israel put down the guns and said, we want peace" Then it wont be no israel. But if the countries around israel such as syria, libanon, egypt, iran, irak ect. Put down their guns then it would be peace.

    The speed limit on Route 6 is 110 km/h. Late last year the government expressed the intention to raise it to 120 km/h, but in order to do that, the law must be changed to raise the default freeway speed limit, which is currently also 110 km/h. I suppose most freeways look somewhat similar, except that here in Ontario the colours of the lines are reversed compared to Israel :)

    • @mastertheknife
      @mastertheknife Před 3 lety

      A lot changed since this video.. It is now 120 km/h, and widened to 3 lanes in most sections, some 4 lanes. Also extended north and south. Great video though :-)

    • @Kot1234
      @Kot1234 Před 3 lety

      @@mastertheknife Haha yeah I know, I've been to Israel several times since I made this video (last time in 2019). Unfortunately I no longer make these videos, but thankfully there are many Israeli driving channels out there now that are much better than mine :) I have to say, the pace of road construction in Israel is impressive - every time I visit there are many improvements. Like you said, Highway 6 is now much longer and it is even faster to access it from Nazareth Illit (now Nof Hagalil) from the north side past the tunnels near Yokneam. The speed limit increases are also very welcome, especially since studies show that higher limits often end up reducing accidents, which is something many (including where I live in Canada) don't understand. בכל מקרה, תודה על הצפייה, תמיד מפתיע אותי שיש עוד אנשים שצופים בסרטונים האלה חחח
