Tour de Sods 2024 | A 42 miles DC UL Adventure!
This time we headed to Dolly Sods, one of the most visited places in WV. We started at Roaring Plains and camped there for one night. The next day we headed towards Dolly Sods Wilderness, were we camped the second night. Sunday was time to head home, we stopped by a very nice restaurant in Davis called Milo's, they have very good food and service, highly recommended!. Today we had the opportunity to climb an active volcano in El Salvador, Volcán de Izalco. It's a very challenge hike, but very interesting terrain and views. Today we are going to the highest point in Virginia, Mount Rogers 5,729 feet. We were going to do a 2 nights a days trip, but we had to make changes based on the weather. We were not expecting this much snow!. After this trip we'll have to make some changes to our gear. The temps were in the mid to high teens, and it felt very cold with the windy conditions. One of my most favorite places in the world. I've hike it in winter time as well and had to bug out early due to snow and wind too. It is such a different ecosystem up there you never know what you are going to get sometimes. I was up there a year or so ago and camped in the same location as you all. Spent the evening with a herd of cows and got woken up in the morning with a campsite full of ponies licking the dew off my tent. Great place. Thanks for sharing your video.
It is a beautiful place. The 2 times I have been there it has snowed, the first time we turned around as well. This time we were determined to make it up. The original idea was to make a loop, but because of the conditions, we had to go slower and we cut it short. Thanks for watching!

That's awesome! I had a lot of fun up there. we were blessed with low wind and undercast. I would recommend talking to the rangers before you head up there, they will give you more up to date info. That helped to make our decisions on gear, time and route. Enjoy!

"10 Degrees colder" is exactly right! The Lower Niagara Gorge is generally cooler than the Upper Gorge, and the hand-dug tunnel at the Cave keeps in the cool rock temperature. Great footage at the Hurricane Deck and the Maid of the Mist as well! Thanks again for visiting our hometown.

I know, as soon as I realized that I was too close I moved away, it didn't look too bad at first. When I saw that the water was getting close and unsafe, I moved back.
I wouldn't say you're too close but always face the tide , don't turn away from it or face away from the tide 👥 🌊 🧡
