My mom would often make this style of pizza "povera" with just parmesan cheese and tomato sauce. often times 'raw' from the pop bottle used when they made their sauce. The door to door pop man I'm sure hated sauce time because many Italians used the pop bottles because it had the wooden case to hold a dozen of the sauce bottles!! I'm sorry Nona Pina is no longer with us.

Beautiful. As I grow older I miss the traditions of my childhood. My family is from Le Marche, Italy, and I remember La Pizza di Pasqua at Easter but no one makes it anymore. Now it's my turn and I'm glad I found this video. Lovely woman, nonna Pina. Don't let the traditions die!

If I'm not mistaken, she and your family come from Pachino in Sicily. That's exactly where my family comes from!! Please continue with the videos as much as you can. My Sicilian grandparents made this for us. Somehow it was so laborious that the recipe was lost. I tried to make it a few years ago but my mother said the dough wasn't right. I might try Nonna Pina's recipe. They look beautiful and just like I remember them.
