There’s a really good egg replacement called just egg that works well in baking there’s also some powdered ones from other brands I can’t eat gluten eggs or dairy and I’ve used them before

Where I live there's just cream 😁 but I'd use heavy cream to be on the safe side. It will stiffen better with the acidity of the fruit.

For your first time making lanterns they look really nice! Just a small tip, it is okay if you want to prestain or prepaint your wood just leave the area you will be gluing unpainted or unstained! Thank you for the idea to use the square party plate as part of the topper!
