      @@dressink you just have to think outside of the box a little bit - or even like an analog signal flow mentality! Plug the output of a group into an input channel, then route that input channel into a group again :) Be aware though, this will add a small amount of latency (as it does for other consoles that DO allow bus-to-bus routing such as Digico)

    • @dylanmaudio
      @dylanmaudio Před měsícem

      Yes you’re right. My drums pass through UAD 3 times before outputting through the master. Low latency protocols help, along with running at 96khz. I’ve been running this same mix setup for quite a while now, with no perceivable latency. I should really measure it! But I would imagine total RTL is 10-15ms

    • @dylanmaudio
      @dylanmaudio Před měsícem

      I haven't used that setup for a while - but ballpark I think about 12ms with a number of round trips through sub-groups/master bus etc. In LP, you can 'time align' your inserts into groups if you like. For this particular setup with such little input count, it wasn't so important.

      PCI card let's you go down with latency.

    • @dylanmaudio
      @dylanmaudio Před měsícem

      It is to lower the latency. PCIE card allows 0.15ms minimum latency each in & out, per round trip Dante virtual Soundcard is 4ms minimum latency each in & out, per round trip. If you have multiple round trips - ie signals go through a channel chain, a subgroup chain, and a master bus chain, the latency stacks up every quickly.

    Hugely inspiring video! Is the trick to getting acceptable latency having a UAD Quad/Octo PCIe card and a Dante PCe card? Would a thunderbolt Satellite & Dante PCIe be too slow for live? Do you have any thoughts on running inserts through Apollo instead, pros/cons? Much appreciated!

    • @dylanmaudio
      @dylanmaudio Před měsícem

      No too slow of live at all.. any thunderbolt Dante interface will allow low enough latency for a couple of round-trips in a live setting IMO. Hardware Inserts through the Apollo is a great idea, just means more I/O and analog cabling required but it's a very robust solution.
