I figured they would come in at some point but I didn't remember them from the first book.

I would recommend Dread Nation by Justina Ireland (YA zombie book set in the aftermath of the Civil War dealing with topics like racism, colorism, disabilities, and sexual identities) and ParaNorman by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel (middle grade about a boy who can see ghosts but there are also zombies and witchcraft, also a fantastic movie adaptation)

I shall add them to the list. I love the Paranormal movie but I haven't read the book!

I don't have anything by him but I'll definitely look into it! You can never have too many witchy books.

@@TheHexedLibrary they're definitely older books. I'm not even certain he's alive and writing still. I first remembered seeing his book Earth Power on my parents shelf and picking it up then, that it may very well be more of a nostalgia read for me than a witchy practice read. Although I've enjoyed his other books just as much.

I started buying all UK editions. Now I'm starting to collect the floppy US paperbacks =)

She's such a polarizing author and I wouldn't have ever picked the books back up if Bethany wasn't doing the readalong. I figured it would be me hating them the whole time but enjoying hanging out with my booktube friends but I've actually been having fun. I was definitely surprised.

@@TheHexedLibrary sometimes all it takes is reading with friends. Not necessarily because the book is good (although I'm glad you're enjoying them) but the camradery of sharing the experience with friends. I think that's awesome!

Yeaaaaaah, dub con is definitely something that usually doesn't work for me and it may be the think that makes me DNF the book. If I hadn't already bought it or had a channel to make content for I wouldn't read it. But ya know, since it's here, might as well get some Halloween content out of it.

@@TheHexedLibrary I've got a couple books like that in my ebook library. They aren't my usual vibe and I don't remember how they got there, but since they're there... Might as well read them... Or at least attempt to... 😆

So many people have agreed that Gatsby is bad and I feel so validated. At book club those in the older generations were more favorable of it. Most of them liked it because of the time period it showed rather than the actual plot itself. Which is fine, but there are better books set in the 20's.

Girl... I didn't make it past the first five pages of that book. I'm sure there's a lot of things in there that are good but the guy is legit talking about thinking about the virginity of a friend from back home while he's in the trenches and staring at her photos and she must be a virgin because she's got dry and hairless legs and he wishes he'd have taken her upstairs and tied her to his bed. CHECK PLEASE!

TRUTH though.

Girl, the one star reviews for A Novel Love Story are better than the book. I had the BEST time reading them. And yes, I definitely picked the right shirt for that day. I didn't realize the book was so triggery until I started putting things together for the review and was like "Oh. I'm in trouble."

The Ashley Poston DNFing has been INSANE. And I know some people who have finished it and not been happy. I'm 100% making a video of the Coven. I have to at this point. OH no... DNFing Horror Movie?!?! I think I'm going to do a vlog of that and We Used To Live Here because they've both been compared to House of Leaves. <3

I filmed this a couple of weeks ago and I'm still laughing at what I've gotten myself into!

I meaaaan, if you want to join me for a fun(?) time, I'm down. I'm going to be reading it next month so I can upload it in October.

This is literally our indie book store's book clubs theme for the year. I've been about 50/50 with absolute loathing vs loving.

I thought about editing it down but.... nah.
