The Pumpkins were arguably the first "real" band I got into when I started listening to proper music in 2006. I started-out with Siamese Dream which I hardly play anymore, and it wasn't until 2022 that I finally appreciated Machina. It's now surpassed even Mellon Collie as my favourite Pumpkins album, and I can't believe it took so long. I also never realised just how amazing a drummer Jimmy Chamberlain is until now.

As much as I like and respect Melissa Auf Der Maur’s bass, listening to this recording I can really understand what Billy meant when he said that her playing was a little too aggressive and in your face for the Pumpkins and that’s one of the reasons she was never in consideration for the reunion when D’Arcy was out of the picture for good. He also said the pumpkins sound needed that sedate, kind of understated (introvert) bass that D’Arcy provided, and I tend to agree, even though I think they also sounded great with Melissa in the band (and with Nicole too).

" AN ECONOMIC POLICY WOULD BE SHEER LUNICY " . WHERE AS KURT COBAIN TEACHES US TOO BE DIRTY AND GROSS AND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE PUT NEEDLES IN OUR ARMS WHEN WE GET SAD. I'm not going to get into an an argument withe the Pumpkin-Heads: but, i am of the generation who watched SNL in 1993 with shock and speechless awe when then Pumpkin's performance left us doumbfounded. Though this might be the best song Billy ever wrote.
