    My wife plugged in an Iron to the outlet upstairs, a spark came out of the outlet, and all the electricity upstairs went out. Got it fixed, found out the Iron was always plugged in on Max settings causing a small white flash (Spark), tested it on other outlets and caused the same thing, said just use it at a lower setting. The technician noted some of the outlets have different thickness wires, so can't handle some things on max settings (I'm assuming the copper wire thickness?). The technician fixed it so fast, but it was an eye opener for me, showing me how clueless I was, so I decided to look up more info. Came across your channel first on my search, you are absolutely amazing at explaining everything. I learned more from your video than my entire physics course in undergrad. Thanks.

    Very informative. We're working on a house and upgrading ungrounded outlets and the research we did showed that ground wire pigtail method was the appropriate way to do it. As we progress to possibly adding circuits, I need to better understand how outlets and switches operate on the same circuit. It reasons turning of a switch would turn off outlets downstream (which it in fact does on one outlet in the living room).

    Pro tip: don’t just pigtail grounds when passing through. Be sure to twist the grounds together to make a tight braid. Leave one ground longer to be able to slide a ground wire nut over it so it can be grounded to the box.

    1:24 No electricity really is dangerous, Especially if you don't pay attention or mess around with it. Lineman die every year, Usualy the younger people who tend to skip safety steps & rush into the job before they do all the math. Like all things it should be respected as its not a toy, & is more deadlier i would say than a gun is, hence why the chair was the prefer method rather than a firing squad. If its something the person is afraid of i would say get someone else to do it, Because its more likely in that fear your going to mess something up. It also doesn't take much to burn down your house. But if you learn about electricity prior its pretty simple & only gets easier.

    AUTOBOT DOSEN’T HONOR THEIR WARRANTY! My unit failed 9 months after I purchased it on Amazon. I contacted the company and proceeded to send photos and proof of the installation. Additionally, I hired an electrician to check the breakers, and took my car in for service to eliminate every possible problem before asking for a replacement. The electrician confirmed, that the unit had failed and a needed replacement. On July 3, 2024, the company agreed to send me a new unit and thanked me for providing the evidence of the failure. Unfortunately, after multiple promises and apologies, they refuse to send the unit. They claim to have a hassle free 1-2 year warranty and I went the extra mile and provided them with the documentation they asked for. This company has ZERO integrity, and shouldn’t be trusted, you have so many options out there and can do much better than this company.

    The only thing I don't understand is what size wire and amp breaker do I need for 120v 12k BTU. What do you gain from having a 230v vs 120v, is it based on how much space you have in your panel? Because I only have 2 spots left in my 100 amp service.

    • @brettleybuilt
      @brettleybuilt Před 16 dny

      It is all based on what the devices are designed for and what the matterials need to be able to do and withstand. For example, if you put too large of a breaker on too small of a wire, you could cause the wire to over heat and cause a fire. The do make a "sandwich" breaker that is a 240 breaker that only takes up one space.

    Based on my experience with the 1300 watt variable speed reversible version, you're going to find it very useful. I run it with Slugger coolant mixed 9:1 with water. The coolant works great. Feeding from the inside it has no place to go but ought through the hot teeth so it's very efficient at keeping the bit cool which will help them last longer. It will be especially good to use it on yours which spins quite bit faster than mine does. Based on how well the annular cutters performed on the Vevor I bought an R8/Weldon adaptor for my mill and transfer the Vevor coolant reservoir to the mill when I used annular cutters there in combination with the DRO to make a drill jig for creating my own fixture table. The chuck that came with mine turned out to be quite good with surprisingly little runout. The OD of the chuck just below the chuck key hole has a runout of ~ 0.001". The shank of a chucked bit is +/- ~0.002". IMO: That's beyond good enough for drilled holes.
