It is an OP ability. we play an RPG anime style and as a GM I granted one of the players similar abilities, but I gave it to a player that's pretty one dimensional where he bashes his way into everything, not very creative. It was hilarious to play with. He often tries to activate it, but falls flat on his face so he goes to bashing. one of the rules was he he's to come up with it himself, he can't be coached because one of the other players were good at poetry and writing.
