I am Blaine Ray and my passion in life has been my family and teaching languages. This channel includes a collection of videos of teaching with TPRS. It is a teaching method that has been developed by countless teachers across the world and continues to change, improve, and evolve.
The Story of TPRS
This is Blaine Ray. He was a Spanish teacher that struggled to get his students to show progress with their learning. Blaine went to work experimenting in his own classroom for many years until arriving upon what is now know as Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling.

I taught this level four Spanish class. I started out working on the subjuntive. As I went along, I started working on more simple structures. It is all based on the confidence of the student actors. When they break down, we circle until we see confidence in our student actors.

me parece fantástico que el profesor les hable en español a sus estudiantes para que asimilen mejor la lengua. De hecho, me atrevería a decir que en casi toda Hispanoamérica, los profesores de inglés no hablan en inglés, dan las clases 99% en español, lo cual no favorece a la práctica.

Para los angloparlantes lo difícil no es entender la construcción del subjuntivo, más bien las conjugaciones que van cambiando del indicativo al subjuntivo. Tener que memorizar tantas conjugaciones, es un dolor de cabeza para ellos.
