They switched the sports anchor to do the weather and the weatherman did sports. I thought that was a special moment

Whether he viewed it that way by 1995 I'm not sure, the show itself grew a lot over that time, so maybe his view shifted too. But hard to say for sure. In any case, with that it's tough to say if he woulda hosted/been asked to in 1997 had he been alive and able to do so capably.
