Learn to paint with me using Himi gouache paints 🖌️
This video is part of an ongoing series focused on realizing my artist self 🌻 My watercolors usually end up a muddy mess, which is what happened with the "before" version of this little painting. I first tried to paint this scene from a Studio Ghibli movie and ended up with a dissatisfying bit of progress---so I decided to try and save it with a bit of gouache. Gouache is so much easier to work with, in my mind, because its opacity allows you to work and rework as you go. There's no need to preserve the white of the paper, unless you want to, because you can paint thick pops of lighter value over darker spots, if you need to! I'm obviously still learning and working out different techniques, but was pretty pleased with the end result. What do you guys think?
