Absolutely beautiful! 😍
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Excellent, no modern tools !!
Thanks! I appreciate you watching.
Nice dagger
Thanks, I appreciate you watching.
It's been a joy to see a smith forging the blade rather than grinding it from rectangular stock like so many seem to be doing nowdays. Congratulations Master Smith.
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Well done! I have a bunch of leaf spring material…guess I’ll give it a go to make one. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks! I think you should go for it! I appreciate you watching.
А вот это уже интересно и хороший такой вызов ,сама ковка укрепляет и меняет структуру метала
I appreciate you watching!
Well done mate, cheers...
Thanks! I appreciate you checking it out!
Beautiful work and good video. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! I appreciate you checking it out!
What do you do with the left over metal?
I toss it in a bucket to use on future projects, I like to challenge myself and see what kind of knife I can forge out of the smaller left overs. I appreciate you watching.
@Mysticmountainforge can't wait to see a "leftover" canister hunter or chopper.
👏👏👏👏🤜🤛
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Beauty. To prep your tang for the scales. Do you just hammer flat as best you can or is there surface grinding? Beauty work, love this brute du forge style
Thanks! I try to hammer as flat and straight as I can, but I do usually end up grinding them some. I appreciate you watching.
GREAT JOB! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Very nice work! I enjoyed the video!

Yep, I could see that. I appreciate you watching.
Looking forward to the video
Thanks for checking this one out, the build video is now up. I appreciate your support.
Great job
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
I really love low-layer Damascus like that. How did you get that pattern?
I use my drawing dies to do most of the work on my billets after the first few forge weld passes, then finish up with some flattening dies on my press, after cleaning up the billet it almost always has a ladder pattern, grinding the dagger bevels combined with the lower layer count made it have a really cool look. I appreciate you watching.
@@Mysticmountainforge gotcha! Super cool! Thank you for sharing!
You. Turn. Out. Some. Really. Nice. Knives. Would. Be a. Pleasure. To. Own. One.
Thanks, I appreciate you watching! I occasionaly have some available on my Facebook page.
Can you make a shovel? Same size, same “materials?
I have been thinking about it for some time now, once I get the cleaver I'm working on finished I plan on doing a few blacksmithing videos so I will make it one of the ones I work on. I appreciate you watching.
Great looking piece 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Absolutely stunning. That is a truly beautiful blade
Thanks! I appreciate you watching.
Today I learned my computer speakers could reproduce the ringing these anvils make and cause me to flinch and look for my hearing protection. I bought one of these but it was the black one (I think this was a 50 hardness and the black is a 55) but the ringing was all the same. I had to mount mine to a wood block and wrap it with chain but holy crap these are insane for the price. I got mine for 287 shipped. Though I had to help the fedex guy get it out of the truck, it was so worth it. I haven't had it for very long but I've abused it pretty badly and no marks so far. I would highly suggest this anvil for anyone just getting into blacksmithing.
Sorry about that, They are really good anvils for the price. I appreciate you watching!
I love the jimping on the back of any knife, but especially a hunting / skinning knife. I'm very jealous at how nicely your leaf-spring treated you. I fought every single inch of the spring steel I used to make my first knife.
I love it as well, Spring steel can be a pain sometimes that's the truth, I worked with a rail spring clip making a Wakizashi a couple of years back and it was a pain even with a press. I appreciate you watching.
@@Mysticmountainforge nothing we did would take the desire of my piece of leaf spring to go back to its original bend out. We finally got a quench w a straight blade. And sure as sh*t the tang just decided to kick way over. Even after tempering. It’s fine, I had a ton of handle material to work with so I was able to still get the knife to like… track… straight… but with that kick I had some burn-throughs bc I needed so much space in the handle 😤
First time seeing your videos. Really enjoyed it, you deserve more subs :)
Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate you watching.
Sweet, very nice work. Have you worked with spalted hickory for scales ? Can’t wait to see the finished product 🥳
Thanks! I haven't worked with spalted hickory but I have worked with spalted maple, it is what I used for the handle on the viking seax I made. I appreciate you watching.
Dope AF results, @Mysticmountainforge! Now it needs an equally dope sheath to complete the package!
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Bro please tell me how to drawing this design. 😊❤
One of the easiest ways I can think of is to pull up the thumbnail on a computer screen, take a piece of typing paper hold it over the screen and trace around it, then just upscale it to the size that seems like it would work, a good way to do this is to make the handle 4.5-5 inches long, that is usually a good size that will be comfortable, from there you can pretty much make the blade whatever length/size you want. I appreciat eyou watching!
Among the bunch of YT bladesmiths that hand forge their knives, you are certainly in the top 2%. I learn a lot about hammer control from your vids…too bad I can’t seem to put it to actual application! 😁 I love the ruggedness of this knife.
Thanks, I appreciate that! It took a long time and a lot of mistakes before I got to where I am now, and I still have a long way to go, I just try to get better with every project. I appreciate your support, and I appreciate you watching.
Incredible love this guys videos
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Nice nice!!

What are you dipping it in in the middle of the video? Im new at all this
That is oil I quench the knife in to make the steel harden. I appreciate you watching.
@@Mysticmountainforge thanks
Beginners have hydraulic presses?? Doubt that i definitely dont
Look for a log splitter on facebook marketplace or craigslist, try to find one that needs a motor because they are cheap and you can get a motor from Harbor freight for like 80 dollars, then with just a little work you can have a forge press for next to nothing. I got mine the second year I was forging and I only ended up spending 300 dollars. If you plan on forging long term they are a game changer for sure. I appreciate you watching.
Great knife mate.👍
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Don't know what path you followed in life to get where you are now. But, you certainly have a quiet and satisfying style which comes through in your vids. I find watching your projects informative, and easy going...almost might say soothing or calming. You're a natural at these projects. Thanks for taking us along! 👍👍👍
Thank you for your kind words and support, I greatly appreciate you watching.
Looks nice! Funny its actually is a hybrid of two I got on the work bench right now. One with an identical profile and the other with forge finish flats and the same file work on the spine.
Thanks! Great minds think alike! I appreciate you watching!

Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Great knife 👍👍
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Just curious, but if you're doing all of that forging, only to grind off .125" around the profile, why not start with an angle grinder?
An angle grinder would be a great choice if I were just starting out, but since I have been doing this for several years I have quite a few used 36 grit belts that I have set aside strictly for profiling, I prefer to use the belt grinder but an angle grinder would be a viable option, I guess it would just come down to personal preference. I appreciate you watching.
And there was enough steel left over for another knife.
Absoloutley!, enough for another hunter or a decent sized hidden tang knife. I appreciate you watching.
Beautiful... Tigerish Look too, I really like.
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
I gotta say watching your videos and you creating a knife is always so impressive. It's just really awesome to see you take a piece of ordinary metal and turn it into a beautiful work of art.
I think that's awesome, I greatly appreciate you watching and your support, I am really happy you enjoy the videos.
Great video. What tool did you use to scribe the edge of the blade for the bevel? I couldn’t catch the name. Thanks
Thanks, I appreciate you watching! It is called a height gauge, here is a link to one. www.amazon.com/0-150mm-Precision-Aperture-Magnetic-Standing/dp/B07M9P5DMK/ref=sr_1_16?crid=3G15QZHXOKVGJ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.CSyVVbCLHMRCuWdqoszr0O1F_SCwhBf2-Jl3wr5gwKdAIoLtrvA92oK0SuxhHm6ZuiUcOac1Zue1-XeR-GlgzvE7XJj7Lzt3qb611RYovWHJ33B_5Hrogc6xor7q3kWMupkCILAIpON6DfkWMJOyA9wPrXrt_EUMQNzWtVG_j8_u1k0yj7WbJcmXYU5oJrjSF0Q39xAz7Kndakw-hyiUmzgJe6fEuCo-loXOlILopJg.4GNBA0S5BsyUZXUReUA-1X4G4Rr4L-l4Qc-IG0MFL2A&dib_tag=se&keywords=height+gauge&qid=1717719574&sprefix=height+gauge%2Caps%2C2090&sr=8-16
