Chetki - 'Double back' repeater manipulation - another beginner tutorial
Hurricane Ian has taken a lot out of me, my family, friends and neighbors.
I honestly shot this video just to get away from the chaos for a few minutes.
Hopefully it is helpful to my fellow chetki beginner players.
Love, peace and chicken grease y'all!

    Hey there. So, I also got the chetki from aroundsquare but mine are nine beads long and I see yours are eleven. I mean there was an extra pair of beads in the pack but how did you get eleven? Was this custom made and do you think I can still play with it like you do if I have just eight beads long? P.S. When i mean beads I mean the wooden once.

    If you want a tile style, 3D printing with a high quality 3D printer and ABS or other stable plastic (not PLA) but tolerances would not be as tight as the highly machined ones.

  • @liamjack7703

    I know this is a very late comment but I have been building diy mkultras recently using stainless steel beads, and something I found is that the beads I got (prob similar if not the same to the ones you have) weren't just a 90 degree edge, they actually had a burr on the inside that was causing a ton of fraying. I wasn't able to find any 3.5mm bore stainless beads, so I ended up using a tapered diamond serrated knife sharpener to file down the inside of the beads to be smooth and haven't had issues since. The 90 degree edge will fray the cord, but that on its own shouldn't cut through the cord like what you were experiencing.

    Original thread hole is 1mm in most, or 1.5mm. Kind a interesting to see that you are using such thick cord. But design is very nice, especially with red one.

    You can find some beads or buy completed from abroad, just nobody targeting west market and using local websites to sell, or on youtube plenty of channels, search "перекидные четки". That one "remeshok" is not a classical but hybrid of chyotki and komboloi. I would not consider it as classical. And btw it pronounced like chyotki, like "yo" in yogurt. Nice video.

      Yes. The west has taken the traditional eastern form and has changed a few things. Chetki has now become more known around different regions and I have seen many styles from many countries now. It is quite awesome how a simple rosary has transformed into a fun skill toy becoming more and more known

      Interesting because the man who made the chetki in the video has recently started making his own chetkis much tighter with less "free thread distance" and says he likes to play with it better that way.

    Thank you so much for making this two part video man! I got myself a Chinese copy the other day. It’s suppose to be a titanium with a stonewashed finish. It’s similar in size and shape to aroundsquare’s standard size kbone (weighs around 44g). I live in a humid country with pretty sweaty hands and I’ve notice some interesting interactions with the stonewashed finish. When the hands are dry it’s pretty slippery and the ends are harder for thumb control. But when the hand is a bit sweaty then it becomes super grippy, almost too grippy so it doesn’t feel smooth when you roll. Funnily enough, when my hands get super wet, I find that to be the best combination for control but also smooth on the roll lol I have one more question if you don’t mind, do you know the difference between sand blasted vs stonewashed? I know for sure my sweaty hands cannot handle the polished metals. I’ve been eyeing the modular with ti handle and ti hunnydipper but it’s currently not in stock. Hopefully the honey dipper design would help with the thumb tricks tho.

    • @SonicDaEdgehog

    wonderful start tbh, I've gotten too used to how this transition works with begleri [it is more of a roll/switch kind of thing] so this ladder style makes a lot of sense to me for the style of chetki.

    The descriptions say the bore diameter but just in case they don't fit your desired cord, just use a drill and get the drillbit of the size you need and drill them wider, they go through very smoothly, even on wood and hard resin. I did that to several resin and acrylic beads to fit 275 paracord to make some komboloi sets and it worked perfectly, there are some cases where you might need to use a razor cutter to scrape the sharpness on the edges of the bores but you don't affect the looks and even help the cord to slide smoothly

    • @SonicDaEdgehog
      @SonicDaEdgehog Před rokem

      I did indeed end up having to drill some beads to make my daughter a set. I think that is more work than the average person would want to do. It took me awhile to get everything set and beveled. They do include the bore size in the description but I ended up with tons of beads that did not have the bore that was in the description. I got bags of beads I don't use due to incorrect bore descriptions on websites.

    • @BrutalG0re
      @BrutalG0re Před rokem

      @@SonicDaEdgehog That's a bit of bad luck, in my case all beads I received have bores just the size of the description, I had to drill them in many ocations but that's just personal preference to fit thicker cord. Recently I found it much easier to prepare the beads using a 45 degrees triangular drillbit to save time to chamfer the edges of the bores. It still take some time to get all beads prepared to make a set but the result worth it
