    New subscriber. What is your home is 10 years old and i assume you will change your roof in 15year so in 5 years the roof needs to get changed and them the system needs to be removed and put it back again. Would that be another reason not to got to solar because it is an additional cost to put it back again, basically another installation? I hope you can comment. Thanks

    I thought the only time you need a powerwall is at night. During the day the solar panels are producing electricity, so technically ir you use 66 kWh per twenty four hour period. I should be using under 10 kWh at night.

      @@allsolartexasThis is not true. The sun does not stop producing during a power outage. I have a 9.2 kw solar system with 2 PW3’s and my household uses about 50kW per day. I can run indefinitely off grid. The solar produces enough for my daily needs, fills my two PW3s and even lets me charge my MYP during the day and go to bed with 100% in the Batteries. This guy is over selling batteries.

    Why don’t you clearly state .. yes enphase is more expensive .. but You get what you pay for . SINGLE POINT OF FAILURE .. WITH TESLA inverter fails whole system solar panels and battery goes down . Exactly opposite with enphase multiple inverters on the roof panels and in the battery .. more or less impossible to go down .. whats more enphase are all warrantied for much longer period. Reliability is built in by extended testing .. basically making the tesla look like a piece of cheap hacked crap . So yer at the beginning the tesla looks sweet .. down the track multiple problems endless calls to get product serviced .. is that why you buy solar ? So you can have failures and bugs down the track .. this all about Elon trying to achieve market dominance .. for his grand ego empire .. by eliminating the competition.. .. whats more if you really are in the market for a cheap product tesla is not the best buy there are others that represent better value.

    We all want 4, but I think this video overestimates how many you really need. Sure more is ALWAYS better, especially if you want longer term backup (IE no grid for days) but saying you need 4 batteries with a daily use of 60kWh in combination either severely underestimates solar production and implies a really bad system size/location.

    Add video of emphase with pw3. I’m getting micro inverters because ac is better. No Arcing and fires. With a powerwall 3. You can not find anything on this setup!

    • @allsolartexas
      @allsolartexas Před měsícem

      Yeah, that’s because the PW3 has its own inverter, so that’s two cycles of conversion DC to AC (solar to Enphase) to DC to AC (Tesla inverter to battery to main panel). Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I would suspect there some significant loss in power with that setup.

  • @roscoask1089
    @roscoask1089 Před měsícem

    Buybacks are no longer economically feasible to pay for solar in Texas. The export vs import cost difference is too large. Last summer during the record electricity demand (and wholesale prices soared) solar owners did well. Since then not so much. With the state legislature subsidizing fossil fuels I expect solar without batteries will decline as people realize the math doesn’t work. Some of the sad scam stories you see online are due to the low buyback rate. The era of the virtual power plant (batteries receiving a sell signal) may be the best hope for reducing ROI. A properly sized battery in self-consumption mode is the other way to capture ROI but this is still >10 years due to the increased initial cost.

You can save the food in the refrigerator(s), medication that needs to be kept cool and CPAP machines, oxygen tanks and home medical equipment that needs to work. I truly believe that from a commercial and residential perspective, we need to get real about adding power redundancy and back ups. Appreciate the information. I was hoping to do an off-grid setup for my house but unfortunately am within city limits and will be forced to, at minimum, find an electrician willing to help me submit plans, permits, and deal with an inspector. I get that not everyone is capable of the kind of research, care, and understanding a big project involving multiple disciplines takes... but we are really destroying the American DIY and self sufficiency that America used to be known for. Doesn't look like we'll be able to avoid the city this time simply because of the home insurance aspect. Wish the house was paid off... would self insure. Anyway, apologies for the semi-rant, again, good information and thank you for the video. Do you know if the bi directional charging capability is compatible with any EV capable of V2L? Looking at a BYD and want to be able to plug it into a powerwall 3 to give the cars charge to the powerwall overnight rather than by extra powerwalls, we don’t drive much so the cars battery will get topped up with solar each day along with the powerwall

      By directional charging is a separate feature that will require different equipment. Currently Tesla vehicles do not offer by directional charging, so we need to be with the buy directional EV charger and some other vehicle that provides that option.

    Dishwashers use very little power. More importantly, the PW3 has 6 MPPTs. Those 6 total support 20kW, but how much does each MPPT support? Clippage has been an issue for me, trying to pair 430W panels with inverters that clip way below that (individual or string).

      It's not the dishwashers so much as the microwaves, clothes dryers, toasters, A/C, electric ovens.....in a blackout, keep those accessories out of the picture and a single PW3 will get you through 30+ hours, which handles most blackouts, depending on where you live. I've seen that happen...and when the DC expansion units come out, you can add to your storage capacity pretty easily, at a lower cost per panel than the PW3 with its inverter.

    Enphase micros create an "island" so if power fails my house is still running on solar and no need for battery (until sunset obviously) but I could hook up a generator. if one panel fails every other panel still producing versus have an entire string fail. If the single inverter fails you'd also get nothing until someone replaces it vs enphsse invert at panel. If your trying to save energy to use in afternoons then you'll need plenty of panels to run the home and charge the battery. Just do the wash etc during sunshine. The objective is to save money and have some grid down protection and not spend so much it takes until the panels wear out to get your money back IMHO

    • @allsolartexas
      @allsolartexas Před 3 měsíci

      Enphase won’t enable solar to run your house during an outage unless you add about $12,000 worth of extra equipment, such as the IQController 3. Once Tesla come out with a DC optimizer or becomes compatible with a third party DC optimizer then they’ll destroy Enphase’s market share.

    Getting Cybertruck soon = 9 PW3. So I only want 1 PW for TOU and seamless backup. Thats 123Kwh + 13.5 from the PW....136.5 kwhr. 48A x 2. Ok, so prob dont want to drain the truck down to zero....but still.

      Really hoping to see them expand this new system to the existing cars. Drives me nuts that Musk proclaimed Vehicle 2 Grid as "stupid" and doesn't want to offer it for years, then suddenly adds it to the Cybertruck. My Model Y has more battery in it than like 4 power walls. Before a storm I charge that to 90% just in case, and it sure would be nice to be able to pull that back if needed.

    Because it is a DC only coupled product, I think the Tesla Powerball 3 will be a flop. There are still many applications where the installer is going to want to AC couple the solar to a battery system. My guess is that you will soon see a revamped power wall 2 once Tesla realizes how poor their sales are on the power wall 3.

      I’ve run DC charging for 5 years living full time in my RV, the advances of the Powerwall 3 are - the panels are only connected to the powerwall 3 - the power 3s input is AC from the panels and outputs DC to the Gateway - no AC/DC conversion has less loss to charge the batteries . - the inverter is part of the power all and cheaper to install. - add panels, only wire into the powerwall - add an extension battery only the first powerwall is touched - the gateway sees AC from the grid and powerwals, the gateway controls the switch - hopefully adding panels or batteries will not require the utility to sign off on. The upgrades really don’t touch the grid. But of course if you currently have panels the are connected to a device a device the converts to DC before the batteries you’ll have to change the panel the to powerwall wiring or use a powerwall 2. I think this will be a great success.
