Just walked out of Phantom Menace in theaters (25th anniversary re-release I believe)… I got in my car and just had to play this scene immediately. I take back everything I ever said about the prequels.. the full circle tragedy of Anakin’s life couldn’t be played out any better.

In A New Hope, Obi-Wan tells Luke that Anakin was killed by Darth Vader. It used to just feel like Obi-Wan was being evasive, but those same words coming from Vader’s own mouth really add something. Makes it a lot better.

ngl, this dark scene suddenly cutting to Anakin giving Ahsoka a smug look made me laugh.

I love how in most scenes of Star Wars, Vader is almost casual and dismissive of his opponents, and annihilates them with no real effort. Yet here, it is much visceral and you can hear the rage he puts into his blows. Goes to show how much of a beast Obiwan is.

Gotta give the writers and the director props, they've tied the dialogue of the movies and The Clone Wars to encapsulate how raw this scene is. Like, jeez it made my emotions throb and bruised at how crushing this encounter was. And props to the actors for being just fantastic. I don't think anyone's gonna dispute Ewan McGreger is Obi-Wan, at least the younger version anyways.
