How To Make Zesty Smashed Sausage Egg Muffin on the Blackstone Griddle
When I was in college, I learned the McDonald’s way, so why not cook up some sausage egg muffins on the Blackstone Griddle?! The one thing that I do differently is add the words zesty and smashed at the beginning of sausage egg muffins.
This recipe can be cooked with regular sausage but anyone who knows me knows I love a little heat in my food. This is why I use Bob Evan’s Zesty Hot Sausage whenever I cook my sausage egg muffins!
If you have never tried these, they are even better on the Blackstone. I highly recommend them, and if you do not like eggs, then just sausage muffins are also awesome!

    what is that last step your doing around the 1:40 mark? are you putting water in the water heater, if so how much?

    • @MyBackyardLife
      @MyBackyardLife Před 4 měsíci

      That is the hot water heater bypass valve. When winterizing, you turn that bypass on to prevent antifreeze from filling the hot water tank (water is drained by removing the anode rod in the tank). In the spring, the bypass valve should be off (the anode rod should also be put back in). This is what is being shown at 1:40, the bypass valve being turned off. This allows the hot water tank to fill. Before turning the hot water tank on you’ll want to make sure it is full of water as well. Just run the hot water in the kitchen until the air is gone (hot water tank will fill). Then you are good to go. Hope this helps!

    Seems to me that the purpose of the cooling fins at the top is for cooler air to scrub the heat away from the fins. Since hot air rises to the top ,, wouldn't it be more effective to have the fans on tip to pull the air up through the fins instead of down,and create some sort of baffling to direct the air flow out. Furthermore, the three fans on the baffling plate pulling the air away from the fins might possibly negate any the air flow from the bottom vent from cycling up and through the cooling fins. I would experiment with fan direction , and monitor the effect with a thermal imager to note any difference.

      @MyBackyardLife Před rokem

      While I've never hit the griddle top with a heat gun, I've never had an issue with the griddle not getting up to temp. I even live in the North where we get a lot of snow this time of the year and the Blackstone has no problem with temps. For instance, it was 6 degrees out a couple weeks ago and it still delivered that perfect sear on our smash burgers. I don't see it being an issue and have personally never had an issue. I also have two griddles in which one remains the camper. The griddle I have on my back deck is the 36" and that is the one that is hooked up to the natural gas. Point being, the 36" has the largest surface area to heat and I have yet to have any issues. Hopefully this helps!
