Honda CB350 Key Mechanism Fix
I had a frozen lock, so I disassembled to free up and lost some parts in that process. I purchased a second lock without keys to harvest some of the missing parts I needed.

Sorry about this abrupt end on this video I am still tuning the carb. It is on and the bike starts and runs, but I am getting some mid-throttle bogging, so I need to play with it and try to get rid of that. The Big Bore Kit is next on the agenda for this bike. I will be using the BBR big bore kit.

Is there a kit for a 70cc?
I'm questioning "why "? If the battery is dead, you can just put it in 2nd gear, push it, and pop the clutch.
Always ride with flip flops / sandals. Or just barefoot.
I do heels
Looks good. Nice job.
Thanks. Need to order the clutch kit for my 2023. Can you please share the link?

There is a slappingniose when it tries to start. Will not keep running once you release brakelever and started button. I'm thinking cam chain tensioner went out.there were alot of brass colored shavings in oil filter
Automatic can-chain tensioner requires no maintenance. Have you done a valve adjustment ?
This bike sold a long time back.
I am talking about dudeniki scooter, not yours chriss. Just trying to help him out.
@@lebombardier9282 Got it, must have misread something... LOL
@@lebombardier9282 I agree that checking the valve adjustment an making sure that the adjusters are correct would be a good first step.
Great job 👍
@mikemartin3365 Thanks brother!
Pulling the clutch assembly is not necessary. The only tricky part is getting the funky spring in place. I did it so any moron can do it!😁
This was kind of a learning journey for me. If I get a chance to do it again, I will try doing it without pulling the clutch.
Thanks for the video , I have just ordered the ja65 kit , was curious as to what it really looks like. Now I know , great stuff. But I'd think I better get some spare slave cylinder O-rings...not sure these two wont need replacement eventually (them being so close to one another around incompatible fluids...). Any idea where I could find those ? (maybe from webike ?) Very helpfull video even if made by a diy-er (I'm a mechanic ). Thanks again.
Thanks for the kind words. Glad it was helpful. I think it is probably a smart idea since they have different compositions. I would try Takegawa first, Webike would be a good choice as well. The questions is how long will the seals last and will you be able to keep track of the replacements if you get them now.... ( I sometimes struggle to find stuff I bought two months ago...)
Off topic but did you modify your seat too? Im not seeing the ridiculous hump in your seat.
Good eye. Yes I like to sit farther back on the seat, so I took a electric knife to in and de-humped it.
It's a copy of a Honda CD90 Benley. It was sold almost everywhere except usa. Stopped production in 2002 I think.
so have you sold the big ruckus? mine needs serious motor work and im looking for another one
I did sell that one. I have a lower mileage one that I am thinking about selling. It is in better shape and lower mileage than this one.
Whats wrong with yours? Why the serious motor work?
Where did You find the exhaust swap?
I think I ordered it from Bart Moto co. It is a CT70 exhaust, if I recall correctly.
My XR150L has a PZ28 carburetor currently and am going to try out the PZ30 this week
Thanks for sharing! Very detailed!
Very clear, nice job! Do you know the length of 28251-KWG-600 SPINDLE, KICK STARTER?
I am sorry I don't know, from memory is was maybe 6 inches, but no exact measurements sorry.
Thanks!@@ChrissScooterSupportGroup
After checking in honda oem parts website, some parts listed should be used in CG model, instead of CBF engine. If I need to tune, should I buy all parts based on the OEM code you list?@@ChrissScooterSupportGroup
@@user-yq2qo3hy5t I dont think I can offer solid advice here, I just used the parts from the same XR150L that is sold in the Asian market. If there are cross over parts then you may be able to use them, but I can't give you a definitive answer.
Hey Chris, I've watched several of your videos. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. You mentioned several times you purchased parts from the Philippines. Any chance you could share the info of who you purchased through? I'd like to buy the red plastics for my XL150 and then later probably the kick start. I saw a Honda place in the Philippines, but there was no option to purchase and ship to the United States. Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
facebook.com/siclistamotorcycleshop/ Joseph is the owner and has always been straight forward with me.
Thank you sir!
I don't think you need to pull the clutch pack out to replace the kickstart. After removing the cover gently as not to ruin the shaft seal and decompression shaft seal, the kickstart shaft, spring, idler gear, assembly should be ready to remove. It makes it easier to check your work to make sure that the gear engages and returns to idle position.
Hopefully, someone will offer a kit so you don't have to trying to track all the parts down individually.
That took the most time..
very helpful ❤
Well I for one of the XR150L owners am interested in your results. I have noted that the North American version has no Kickstart, very disappointing . Can I ask what tires are you using and how you use your bike on road / off road . Also the skid plate link / cost . In Canada the bike is $5300 out the door . My Navi was $3412 and is the best cheap city bike available. That said I live just outside a large city , rural and the extra speed of the XR150L is more comfortable at those increased speeds . So far 4000 klms. My top speed 105+klms. Wishing for at least 115 klms with a few upgrades , like a working Big block kit . So far I real love this its comfortable seat , light handling great gas mileage , and the simplest controls. I claim it best retirement bike purchase ever ok must have beginners bike as well . Thoughts and options anyone ?
It was a bit of a drag to have to add that kickstart myself, but a fun project. I am using Shinko 804/805's and I like them alot. The Navi should help you learn good riding basics, adding the manual transmission adds some complexity to the whole motorcycle riding thing, helps if you drive a manual car but a different animal to learn. Thanks for watching and commenting!
bboffroad.com.au/product/bash-plate-honda-xr150l/ Bash Plate
Cool video Chris. I have a 2013 model that I'd like to add a kickstarter too as well. Not sure why Yamaha stopped adding it to the bike but left the rubber plug in the side of the case, lol.
They left the hole in the case and the gear on the back of the clutch basket as well. I have that Honda XR150L and those two parts would have saved me about $200 on that kickstart install.
What size are your tires
я теж вчора такий купив
Congratulations!
Helo from Ukraine
what parts did you need for this?
Its in the details under the video.
Hey Chris, Could you make a video showing how to install de high front fender? It would be really helpfull 🙏Thanks!

A little off topic but what is the windscreen you have, and do you like it? Picking up my bike tomorrow... no Monday, the clutch is on my short list, I've never owned a bike without one... not sure if I could even adapt if I wanted to, but that small windscreen looks nice.
ZETA Adventure Windshield Stock Screen - I got it from japan webike, they have lots of great stuff but high shipping from Japan (very fast). I dont know that I ride at speed enough for it to make a marked difference.
I pick up mine next week. Cant wait for a simple bike.
Love mine
I like it. Even though it’s made in china. Wish Yamaha or Honda remade these
Do u have a link for your both tires ? I want more aggressive tires on my bike as well
They are Shinko 804 and 805, I got the sizes closest to stock although they are larger by a size or two.
So it's a clutch on a clutch. And it works. Nice bike bro.
Exactly. Its both a clutchless start and a required clutch to shift. Not for everyone but I really like it.
Does anyone know the reason Honda didn't include the kick starter in the US import version?
Cost Savings would be my bet. They save on the cost of the parts that they dont have to include. It is probably not a ton of money, but it helps them get to the low MSRP. That would be my best guess.
I like it, great job.
Thank you!
I wonder why Honda deleted the kicker on the US model? Why not give us the same model available in much of the rest of the world?🤔
Cost savings would be my best guess.
So that they can pace themselves for future models. Honda knows these are gonna catch steam and they don't wanna show all their cards with the first US model ever.
Makes no sense
To save $10 or so would be my guess.
If you had any info on parts and where you got them, it would be very appreciated. Specifically the seat and tank. Great content. thank you.
Seems like a lot of work and money for a bike that has a bullet-proof electric start. Plus a person could just carry a little back-up jump starter. I enjoy my XR150l and have never had a problem starting it, but to each his own.
Watched this in all no so many times. Would you please just take this down and redo this video getting your terms consistent- & say it in a way that makes sense, please? I’m sure you have amazing gifts and are a talented person but communicating is not on your talent list. Specify what you’re referring to when you use identical worst. But that’s for the effort. I appreciate you. “This little shoe”…. What shoe!? Can’t see squatt? “This clutch re engages”. Which one? Abbot & Costello “what’s on 2nd….whose on 3rd?” Haha. Giving up
@jaywinters2483 Let me know the time in the video and I will try to clarify. Chris
Thanks for not ruining it with music- otherwise I wouldn’t even watch
I hate that as well.
is that a shinko 805 rear tire on the stock rim? if so can you please let me know the size?
Stock rim.... I think it is the 5.1 17" I have them on a few of my bikes. really like the looks of them.
@@ChrissScooterSupportGroup Shinko 804 front 100/90-19 and Shinko 805 rear 130/80-17 is what i went with!
What size tires did you use on your Shinko E-804 tires for front and back on your xr150?
Wow I’d love to have a Big Ruckus. They look like a lot of fun to ride, and very comfortable. Thanks for posting!
They are great Scoots. Kind of a cult following.
I would like a kickstart on my 2023, but why do they have you in a cage?

Wow some great mods! Cant pick between this bike & transalp ?
I have an Africa Twin and its a little large for me. The TransAlp is cool, but this is as well. I really like the cb500x
Nice job on the video! I didn't know these existed. I might have considered this when I had first purchased mine, But now I've "become one" with mine after many miles and don't reach for that lever anymore. Nice Lineup you got! Stay safe!! P.S. I don't get many Harleys to wave back at me either, You know when they are coming towards you and you see a patch covered leather vest or monkey bars and armpit hair, that they are not going to wave. All I know is that I'm smiling ear to ear, and you never see any grin on them, Who's having more fun?
Looks cool man
Thank you!
