John Giddings Memorial Rally 2014. Last week I helped out to set up some in-car video cameras for the team. Here is the first part of SS 1. The Reliance Mitsubishi EVO VI went on to record second fastest time on this stage.

This is Ricoh 1. Changing road conditions and a mix of fast and tight roads mean't it was either going to be all good . . . or bad. What are the odds of stuffing up the one corner in the forest where Ross Dunkerton is sitting with a video camera?
National Capital Rally 2014. Classic Mini on SS8

This is the very rough spectator stage and just after we cross the timing marker at the end we go off the road in a cloud of dust! Luckily because we had crossed the timing point we didn't lose any time. Thanks to the photographers (and Bryan) for lifting us back on the road - Charlie Drake is waiting at the end for Rally NSW.

This is the Classic Mini Cooper S taking on SS1 in the 2014 National Capital Rally (Australia) in a section known as 'Pierce's Humps'. With light rain and mud it is making the stage very interesting for the 'miniDave garage' Mini Cooper S!

Rally Australia SS19, Shipmans. This was the last stage for the 'Classics' and the Mini Cooper S has to get to finish. The exhaust has fallen off so it is loud and hot inside as we head through the middle of the stage. Lots of spectators cheering us on!

This is the last part of Nambucca SS11 in Rally Australia 2013. A very long stage of 49.90kms made for hard work in the Morris Mini Cooper S. Some of the spectator points were OK but completely got it wrong on the last one towards the end of the clip.

The 2012 Rylstone Classic Car Rally. From Newcastle to Rylstone, this cross country run has classic Minis, Volkswagons and lots more. 2012 is the second running of the rally and covers 1000km over two days throughout the Central West of NSW in Australia.

No attempt to match the revs on down shifts? This is so common these days. And it's not just for style; it removes those stabs of engine braking. Particularly on the limit on tarmac, the car can be kept more balanced on entry line to corners. And better also to reduce synchromesh wear. Welcome to the 21st century; when racing drivers can't heel-toe downshifts.

@@mxrco2706 I was rallying through Grizedale in the 80's and had I been that slow I wouldn't have bothered.

Good to see a few minis still out there. Even more so in Australia. Have you made any modifications to the body in terms of strengthening and rigidity apart from the roll cage?
Not so much in the body. Subframes have been stitch welded front and rear. Extra support on the front tie bar mount. Top of front subframes near suspension cones have been welded on seams. Extra gussets on the rear subframe. Have added extra engine support to underside of engine to subframe to stop breaking mounts. Currently running rubber cone suspension but upgrading to coil overs. The arches are Australian MK 2 Mini Cooper S. Held onto the body with the chrome side strip. Very similar to the Group 2 arches although the Group 2 ones have small screws to attach to the body

The event was in NSW, Australia. It started in Newcastle went via Windsor, Kurrajong, Lithgow before heading towards Kandos/Rylstone. The 2012 rally was run last weekend and there will be a video of that run being uploaded shortly. Thanks for watching!
Hey where did you do all your driving? I went over seas recently and all the roads and scenery don't look like England when I visited. More mountains and stuff.
