GoldTC - Performance Parts Test Results

Tested 3 update parts to the GoldTC prototype. 1) Rear undertray, 2) body bump stops and 3) lightweight 3grams upper deck. End result was a car faster by 0.2s per lap compared to last weeks debut prototype test. The prototype touring car is responding very well to updates in design. #rc #GoldTC #rccar

We've has a lot of mall races and exposure but the number of new racers due to that marketing is near zero :D
Subscribed sir Joel. I hope Philippines will have a more permanent Mini-Z track. I know the Tamiya 4WD is very popular there, hopefully the hobby shops can introduce Mini-Z or 28th scale R/C especially now that there are quite a few competitive non-Kyosho chassis kit cars and the track doesn't require to be that big. Anyway, thanks for sharing these race videos!

Euro trucks are a lot of fun! any go-fast tips? on high grip carpet my truck seems to work better as tires get older.. my fronts are almost slicks🖖
No tips yet we are slow with truck :D
what tire do you recommend for medium grip on pavement? very smooth pavement not coarse and not bumpy at all very smooth medium grip.
Rush 28 or 30 best carpet tire @ the moment 😊
Sweep or Rush and pick the right hardness for the track temp.

Fastest were running 28. I brought only Tamiya tires and fortunate to borrow 32 :)

Not really I would say medium grip.

Yes as it was 1 day event, no groove.
why carpet was different colour?
The grey was borrowed but not enough and used another carpet that was also donated but not enough as well.

Hi there. Me again. 😊 Had a quick thought 💭 I’ve seen it a few times where some racers install the shocks upside down. This is kinda making sense to me as it puts the heaviest part of the shocks at the bottom attached to the lower control arm now also becoming un-sprung weight, rather than being at the top on the chassis which as you know has to roll with with all the other sprung weight of the car. Wondered if you’d ever tried it but more importantly what your thoughts and opinions were on this as I’m possibly going to implement this on my cars as I can’t see any down side provided there’s definitely no air in the shocks. Also further lowering the CG of the car actually by quite a lot the more I think about it. Hope you don’t mind me asking. ✌🏼
Tried in m-chassis and went slightly faster. But nowadays the shocks are short and the weight is at midpoint, so whether up or down no difference in weight. But upside down more air gets into shocks and I prefer right side up.
I recommend watching @BoomslangSuss They have a video about shock orientation.
Have you raced it against non Tamiya?
We were racing against a lot of Xray X4, Awesomatix, other graphite cars.

I should have bought new Rush 28 but forgot it was a non Tamiya race and only brought Tamiya tires. Luckily managed to borrow Rush 32 but maybe not the same grip level. Jomil was running a Ta07. Others were a mix of Xray X4, Awesomatix, Xpress, Yokomo.

Nope. Their driving styles are different and need their cars to be setup differently.

First place definitely had more HP!
Same motor. Probably more traction with better tires and his was setup with a front spool while ours was with a 100k front diff. Need to slap on a spool :D

Bought the paint in a department store when we raced overseas in Thailand. Not sure on the brand but most likely acrylic paint. Tamiya paint is overpriced :)
Same in the UK. Tamiya paint is about £7.25 a can last time I bought one. Bodyshells range from about £38-£45 depending on which style. (Tamiya shells) So often the paint can cost nearly as much as the shell if your fully into the PS & TS thing. Before you know it you rocking a £70-£80 bodyshell. Plus all the time and effort. A good shell can often take days if not weeks to complete and is definitely my least enjoyable part. Got so many chassis with incomplete body’s 🤭

No one can afford the TRF blue bling 10x price premium, actually... it's 9x now the Yen has crashed. :)
Blue deflects heat more than black hence the premium :D

No wonder your Car got so many interest, it's based from a TT01 which you can get one fairly cheap to start racing on a budget so looking how you Transformed yours into a very capable Racer to compete with more expensive Touring Cars is showing how much potential these budget chassis Have. My biggest question is how much you spend to turn it how it is now😅 probably close to competition chassis but I'm sure you had more fun assemble and Race this one.
All in cost including base TT01 is around $250USD. Still cheaper than most :)

You could use heat shrink for the pins on the centre drive shaft. You know... for that two-gram weight save in the drive train haha
I used to do that, the pins still managed to push thru and the heat shrink would also often slip off.
