    Waze is the best. Dont pay for that. I come from Spain and here in Ireland is H-A-R-D to drive and not intuitive at all. Its way easier to drive in Spain, as is way more intuitive because of all of the signals and how the roads are made. Here in Ireland is more or less like doing rally 😂😂😂 Very tricky. Im getting use to it. And other thing that bothers me a lot is how slow is the traffic 💤 😴 I understand it in National and Regional roads as is dangerous as F 😮 But in a motorway 100 km/h COME ON! At least Irish people are very educated and polite. I've made many mistakes in the bridge crossing, meaning that you have to yield sometimes for the other car to pass. I have my car very well measured so I know where I can fit and where I don't. I lived in Madrid, so I'm very used to narrow roads. So I passed very close to the wall and the other car, and I was wondering why they were staring at me like that 😂 Then a friend of mine explained to me. Im very sorry about that. The other drivers must been very scared 😨

    Roundabouts and 'which way round' are the test. Americans do not understand them even in their own country... There are no public education adverts on the subject and so ignorance of them is universal...... I am a Brit who used to drive in Paris. I have driven (American 'I have drove'), in the US full time since 2007.... I have ridden (American 'I have rode'), motorbikes in every country in Europe...

      We don't say "I have rode" or "I have drove" lol. Drove is just a past tense usage, like "I drove around for an hour". You wouldn't say "I driven around for an hour". The reason we aren't familiar with roundabouts is because we don't use them hardly ever. I live in California and I've only regularly used one roundabout in all the cities I've been to/lived in. It's just not something we do

    • @SunofYork
      @SunofYork Před 2 měsíci

      @@delao7569 It is "I have driven for an hour".... and "I should have gone" rather than "I should of went". Roundabouts are an extremely safe way to do 4 way stops... Even an accident on a roundabout is a glancing blow rather than a head-on crash. Here in Wisconsin we have lots of roundabouts as we like to ape the first world... It's a shame that non-English speaking immigration has left America with such a mish-mash of incorrect phrases, and even sadder that Americans should claim a right to this incorrect and ugly pidgin usage. My forebears spent 1,500 years creating the English language, and now it is being butchered by ungrateful and unrepentant ex-colonials.

    Tip1: If you cant thank a driver for yielding you because you are driving away from them, or simply going the opposite direction, toggle your hazards on for a few seconds then off. This will let the other driver know you're thanking them from a distance. Tip2: In a roundabout, if cars are waiting to enter the roundabout, but you are going to drive past them instead of taking the exit, sometimes especially on big roundabouts with multiple exits, it is common to turn the blinker facing the roundabout's center as in a way to tell drivers you are not exiting the roundabout yet. Same as you should ALWAYS use your blinkers to signal that you intend to exit the roundabout. Tip3: Because of narrow roads, especially on 2 way roads, truck drivers will sometimes stick to the left so you can see the incoming traffic, and even use a hand gesture telling you that it´s safe to overtake them. Tip4: Some times pedestrians will not cross the road and yield cars with hand gestures, it is completely up to you to let them pass or not. In my opinion and following the traffic law, I always let them pass no matter what, as some times they indicate you can pass but another ped is crossing from the opposite side, and if you don't spot them you may run them over. (Especially kids) Hope this helps, drive safe!

    I live in Southern England, from where it's very easy to get to Northern France by car ferry or tunnel shuttle (or was until the idiocy of Brexit), so perhaps I had to master driving on the unfamiliar side of the road fairly early. But yeah, it's less tricky than you'd think it would be, I reckon. I've driven my own UK car in France, and rental cars, of the appropriate handedness, in Spain, the US, Canada and (on the left) Australia. What I've found is that driving on the familiar side is slightly lower in workload, but not all that much. I've not actually driven in Ireland, but the differences between the RoI and the UK (though there are differences) are fairly minor, I think: distances in km, more stop signs, more North-American-style road signs; that's about it. So I assume it'd be OK.

Seems so funny how long ago it was that you climbed, and how many things have happened in the world since then. But I really enjoyed watching your experience and was touched by how much it meant to you, and how you expressed it. Thank you!

    Jesus, must be hard to drive in Europe for an American. Not even used to have a good sense of width and requiring references to keep the track of where their car occupies on the road. And at the end, you lot are really bedazzled by policemen not ''enforcing the rules'', that's because as long as the general order isn't disrupted, the rules aren't there to mess with people, unlike US where you can go to jail for speeding. In Germany, drivers don't even care for speed limits in general, and the road traffic itself regulates the average speed and guess what, average Autobahn speed in Germany is just 120kmh, not some stupid 230 just because motorways don't have speed limits. Traffic in Europe, is designed so that people all follow up the rules, no left, or in this instace, right lane hogging, no over the top driving etc. The country expects you to be competent behind the wheel and it's not that easy to get a drivers licence.

    Of all the advice videos on driving in Ireland, this has to rank amongst the worst, firstly if you're going to flout the law, park illegally and drive dangerously because this clown states "that they don't seem to be enforcing the law and he hasn't seen any police officers" then please STAY AT HOME, you are not welcome here, every year Americans are scraped off the road, usually taking a few innocent people with them due to driving like this idiot, secondly, he's openly breaking the law by driving on the right hand side of a motorway and not overtaking, it's not called the "Overtaking lane" for no reason and you WILL get pulled over, normally by an unmarked car with blue lights hidden behind the grill that this dingbat didn't even realise are all around him when driving on Irish roads, finally if you are coming to Ireland and driving, ignore everything this fool has said and download the correct publication for driving here, study it and drive accordingly www.rsa.ie/docs/default-source/road-safety/r1---rules-of-the-road/ruleoftheroad_book-for-web.pdf?sfvrsn=b5d57830_7

      Thank you. I will be going to Ireland next year and for the first time will driving on the other side of the road. I am a professional driving instructor with 22 years of experience teaching and 40 years driving, I'm here on CZcams learning what I can, and watching people drive. (I also watch driving tests in the UK.) With all my experience, I don't want to accidently drive on the wrong side, so I'm getting my mind used to it. I will also study the Driver Guide Book. (And... I won't drive in any big cities.)❤
