I think you are 100% right. Since Unity is not focusing on fixing and polishing the main system (like the lighting) and I have to spend more money on a third party asset that will do the thing that Unity was supposed to do in the first place.... Thanks but no thanks. I work with Unity for almost a decade now and I totally agree, even though UE is 'heavier' and it takes longer to do some tasks, it does have more useful tools by default. But as you said, the fact that Unity is focusing more on those casual games might be the reason there is such a big difference between them.
why you are using vertex paint, instead of rgb mash, nanite is still quite expensive technology and using rgb mask is a lot cheaper, and results sometimes can look better
How do you deal with lag between hardware cursor and a sprite cursor drawn on canvas?
I've been using Unity for so far 2 and half years, it's pretty easy, understandable, great engine, I think it's the best, I used unreal engine for 3 years, with Unreal Engine I haven't made much games as it's very complex if you just wants to make a material, but Unity for just 2 and half years I made so far 4 games, 2 of them is mobile games, the other 2 is for desktop and consoles, I just recommend to anyone who really wants to works on games and don't have much experience and like new to the industry, I think Unity is the best set for you.
Hello! Would you be interested in a yt interview? I conduct interviews with game devs such as the creator of Rooftops & Alleys and would be eager to have in interview for 'the pedestrian'
Awesome stuff, which Unity version does Switch Pedestrian run on?
Unreal takes several lifetimes to open for me. Mostly because I have to open the epic games launcher first
You talk about Blueskying, isn't that just Brainstorming? That's what I've seen people call that phase in the writing process often. Nevertheless, I wish you good luck with this game. :D
And the result is... ?
just got here from the unreal discord and just wanted to say wow what a unique idea.
Finally played it. Blew my mind. Some of the end puzzles were in that sweet spot between confusing but rewarding and annoying
Hello friends. If you need a 3D artist, let me know. I'm looking for a team.
Damn that was sick studio
It's _so_ stupid that youtube _refuses_ to show me your vids.. super excited for everything coming along! (excited enough to search up the channel every couple weeks)
Wow, eveything about this project is so unique: the concept, the gameplay, the art style and even the title... A bit like The Witness but with a plot. Just let me wishlist it now! ❤
good luck, are we gonna get to try the demo ?
6:06 very cool but this is not what a charpente look like xD
Is there a different Origins game fair than the board game one in June?
The game convention we’ll be attending is GDEX and they have joined Origin the last few years. This year it’s in October.
very cool
From making a game about a bathroom sign guy trying to get back to its sign, to making a 3D game set in the golden age of Hollywood with cutting edge motion capture technology, WOW. The Pedestrian was to me an unreplicable experience so to say that I'm very excited about Quiet on Set is an understatement. Wish you guys the best.
seems pretty far along to be doing concept art, but i'm happy there's a deadline to push things along
Just curious: how many hours a week on average do you guys spend making the game? Thanks for the update and good luck!
Nice, you're really from the best indie dev that do devlogs out there ! love your work !
black bars = cinematic
Obviously.
thats big
I Honestly Can't Wait To Play This Game!! Keep Up The Great Work Guys!!
I've been looking forward to the next devlog for ages! Awesome stuff, really satisfying to see things shaping up
Neat and congrats on the studio!
Out of curiosity - do you have a new name for your upcoming project? Because Quiet on Set by Northern Dev Studio released two months ago on Steam (just google it).
So cool to see this kind of technology in the hands on indies. Did you worry about going overboard with a 20 cam setup for your first project with it, or was that necessary for the complexity of the scenes you'll be capturing for the game?
Thanks! Yeah it was definitely hard to spend that kind of money on a system, but it’s really just the entry level system for anyone wanting to capture more than one actor at the same time.
That is so cool, congrats guys
that is so cool! So which package from Vicon is this?
20 of Vicon Vero v2. It's their entry level camera.
@@DanielPLackey thank you!
Your stage/volume is massive! Looking forward to seeing the results.
Thx! It’s roughly 20x20 feet. Should be more than enough space :)
thanks for showing!
hopefully you guys dont overuse this by making unnecessary long cutscenes in the game like some other game devs do as soon as they get access to mocap
Lol. Well... our game is essentially one big cutscene. But yeah, we definitely need to be careful not to waste peoples time :)
@@SkookumArts so a TellTale style game is what I'm hearing?
i was really hoping to see what it would look like if you guys interacted with each other directly like hugging lol
Ha! Very true. We'll have to do that next session.
Shogun does not post prices on their site. means we can't afford it.
Sooo good to see you again. When can we expect an update on Quiet On Set?
Thanks :) We've been on somewhat of a hiatus from Quiet On Set with our previous game's switch port, personal stuff and the new studio. But we're back at it full steam ahead! We should have something to show soon, probably a couple weeks.
I was really looking forward to this! Excited to see what the new space can do! :)
Us too!
JEEZ!!! Congrats dude!!! this will open a huge door for your imagination. Awesome to see the improvements and how far u guys have come!!! whats the plan for the suits? whats the game idea?
Fantastic stuff, it's fascinating to see all the magic that goes into your art!
That's so cool.
Oh god you don't even know how long i waited for this vids 😅
Is it still gonna be called quiet on set after the new documentary that came out with the same name. I mean i know u can use the same name.
Can you guys make an update video on the Unreal Engine switch now that it's been like a year since you guys switched?
Amazing! Cant wait for new devlogs!
Guys it's been a year since you last showed progress on your game, when will we see anything new?
I miss the times where game trailers where like this: actually showing important things, teases with the right gameplay for the amount that is necessary! Less than a minute is all we need!
This is so genuinely awesome! You deserve this, and I can't wait to see how Quiet On Set does in the new studio!
What is that thing in the kitchen that has the label "coffee maker" on it?
