Thank you for uploading this. Troy (2004) brought me here. Excellent miniseries. Sienna Guillory is no Diane Kruger but she played Helen well. Rufus Sewell should have got a Emmy nomination for his portrayal of the cruel conqueror Agememnon.
They needed each other but I think Dr. Tomas would have made it somewhere else eventually because he was really gifted. Dr. Blalock needed Dr. Thomas more. Their relationship was unequal and he never gave Dr. Tomas the recognition he deserved. That came later after Dr. Blalock was gone.

The most beautful woman in the wolrd?!! How many did they cast? She plays her part ok, but still not looking the part
Beauty is subjective, by 2003 standards, willowy, blonde, soft features fit. Looking at her statues (which were done centuries later) beauty back then was quite different, bigger nose, heavier almost athletic body, likely dark hair. The idea of beauty has changed so much in my lifetime I'm sure its completely different then it was in her time and quite possibly modern standards would make her not even close to what today calls beauty. A good body on a woman back then likely was one well suited to popping out kids and not dying, maybe strong hands to milk that goat. Whatever it was it wasn't going to be the same as western culture in the 21st century defines it.

They cut out far too much. So many characters lacked proper characterizations and adequate fleshing out. The chracter they treated the worst has got to be Achilles. Turning him into a meatheaded and power hungry glory hound does such a disservice to the actual mythological figure. Pain fully disappointing and utterly insulting portrayal. Would honestly take even Gyasi's version of Achilles over this absolute travesty.
Its way better than the movie Troy. That movie cut out the most.

While, Iâll admit they cut or simply alluded to the more fantastical aspects of the story, they kept the bulk of the story intact and gave it a more hollywoodized happy ending in Troy, it still kept all the elements that made the original epic so iconic. The film is nearly 3 hours in length and the directors cut is a little over 3 hours. Within that time they develop and characterize all the major characters in terms of personality and motivation and give all the major set pieces the ample amount of time to make a proper substantial impression. This mini series while having about the same amount of time as the film, streamlines or wholly omits iconic and important moments either because of run time or budget. The acting is either good, passable or just downright terrible. In some scenes, despite having some fairly big names, it sort of shows that the mini series is essentially a made for tv movie. The choreography is all over the place and the special effects are lacklustre at worst. All in all, itâs mostly just okay across the board while Troy (2004), despite being ultimately more optimistic and uplifting in a typical Hollywood fashion, still manages to make for a rousing epic which seems a lot more competently put together than Helen of Troy(2003) which ends up being an overly long and decently budgeted soap opera.
