Faith is believing in others before you thus treating them as Gods. Truth is absolute because it's our correspondence with reality, our consciousness of it, and reality is objective, absolute and independent. Religion is scapism because God is nothing, it's not temporal, it's not material, it's not physical, it's not spacial, it's supernatural which means it's not. It's shameful how people place a book over another human and its individual rights, it was true for Christianity and its extreme for Islam from its conception to this day.

Begs the question repeatedly, faith in what? Yet, it must be answered. The faithful say that if there were no God then all things would be permissible. But if there were no god it would not be permissible to say that there was a god. Of course to say so takes faith for granted, faith in the truth. I want to know where the idea of god as a power to be feared comes from? Believe or be damned! And in what? After reading Velikovsky’s Amensia it became clear to me that whether you believe in the planetary gods or not, the end is the same. What kind of God would punish me for trying to seek the truth and not finding it it the worship of the planetary gods? What is the alternative? To think for yourself or to let others think for you. Thus, am I in exile. If anyone can debunk what Velikovsky proves then I want to hear it. Coincidentally Velikovsky’s first name means “god with us”, Immanuel.

As an RN, Ive seen many people die. The spiritual ones seem to have the most peaceful deaths.

I’m sorry, but the Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 4:13 et al that the believers in Christ are asleep awaiting the second coming of Christ and that the saints will rise up and meet him in the air! When Jesus meets with Martha right before he raises Lazarus from the grave, he tells her that he shall live again, and she says that she knows that he’ll raise in the day of judgment! A few verses before that Jesus tells the disciples that Lazarus is asleep, meaning he is dead. The Old Testament states that the dead give up spirit and sleep in Sheol or hades (ie grave). Ecclesiastes 9:5 says that the dead know not anything. The concept of the immortal soul is of Greek pagan origins, called Neoplatonism, God alone is immortal (1 Timothy 6:16). In fact, to communicate with the dead is necromancy! (Deuteronomy 18:11) So to pray to Mary and the saints is necromancy! People often refer to the thief on the cross, whereby Jesus tells him he shall be in paradise. But their were no punctuation marks in Greek. He’s telling the thief today, he’ll be in paradise. Jesus himself didn’t return to heaven until forty days later. When Mary goes to hug Jesus, he tells her not to touch him for he has not ascended (John 20:17)

I am going to have to write to Bishop Barron. I'm not sure I understood what he was talking about when discussing Sheol. As I understood it, Sheol was where the souls of the righteous went prior to the coming of Christ. We say that Christ descended into hell when he died on the Cross. No. He did not go to the hell of eternal damnation. He went into Sheol to let all those know that the Gates of Heaven were to be opened. They would be opened upon His resurrection on Easter morning. After that, Sheol would be closed. In the Bible, we are told that Elijah was taken up to Heaven in a fiery chariot. Was he actually taken up to Heaven. In John 3:13 says, "No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven--the Son of Man". Thus, none of the three, including Elijah, actually went to Heaven. They went to Sheol to await the opening of Heaven's Gates. As far as I know, there are only two corporeal bodies in Heaven - Jesus and His mother, Mary.
