The new developments(Lithium) are happening at the sub-national level. Nasarawa state , 3 Processing factories(1 completed , 2 in various stages of development- with the Chinese concerns). Edo state(1 in development in -Russians this time, I believe) and then one has just broken ground in Abuja/FCT (I suspect with a Nigerian majority stake and Chinese technical partners)

Should this move work, the whole of Africa will follow. I heard the makers of the Zig were meticulous when making it., it has security features that will make counterfeiting difficult.

The US dollar has no real value and is set by monetary policies put in place by the Federal Reserve. Therefore they control the economy. This needs to change.

African nations should also build skills for our own people to open their own mining companies

Gold backed currency can limit the flexibility of monetary policies and economic growth because the money supply is tied to the availability of gold reserves. Therefore Zimbabwe and all other African countries need to create gold reserves. Other than that, I think this move is great and well overdue.

As a South African, I hope Zimbabwe succeed.

Nigeria should be mining and exporting mining technology to other countries by now. Nigeria should be ashamed that they have not taken control of mining and are just coming up with a law like this. But knowing that there is always walk arounds and exceptions, this new law will only make a few people richer. The lobbyist probably wrote the new law and know how to do the walk arounds. Until Nigeria develops the skill set and takes control of mining technology, the exploitation will continue.

Like you said....talk is cheap. I will applaud when I see some things done on this matter. 1) strict implementation of these new mining laws. 2) level playing grounds for Nigerians too. 3) dividends getting to the common and not an open avenue for gross embezzlement.....and so on
