    If I understand, you had both prints and neg scans made by the photo shop? Based on what i saw in this video, the neg scan of your "peace sign selfie" was far superior than the print. Some 5 years ago I had some "lost and found" rolls of 35 (I shot decades ago) neg scanned by a shop. I had a contact sheet printed of all the images, but no individual prints, only scan files. My "thing" then and now is Photoshop perfecting, fixing and repairing pictures shot on negative film, and positive slides, to be viewed on my computer, or device. The reason why I watched your video is because I recently gave my niece this camera (I bought for maybe $7 at an estate sale), and it has become an obsession for her. I want to let her know she isn't alone!

    Hi, Thanks for the info...most useful. I was thinking, instead of 2 stops, could you reduce iso to 400, or is that the same thing? I am a beginner using manual cameras, and am shooting expired film sometimes.

    • @jubileesantosfilm
      @jubileesantosfilm Před 5 měsíci

      Rule of thumb is to over expose 1 stop for each decade it's expired so i did 2 stops since its been expired like 20 years

    • @derrickzanni1762
      @derrickzanni1762 Před 3 měsíci

      Yes you can. Since 800 iso is twice as sensitive as 400, its just a matter of fractions now, so it would make 800 speed into 200 speed.

    • @jubileesantosfilm
      @jubileesantosfilm Před 3 měsíci

      yea exactly! if the film he is shooting is 800 at box speed and a decade or less, then shooting it at 400 would help him overexpose a stop@@derrickzanni1762

    NICE SCORE!. I am just now getting back into analog photography. When you get your pictures back from being developed is there still a white border around the pictures? The last pictures I took years ago with a 110 Camera had no borders which I thought was weird. I began taking pictures clear back when I was like 13 with cameras from the 1940's and 50's purchased at second hands stores. The one I used most was an Ansco Clipper Camera that took 616 Film. The negatives were the size of a Post Card. The City where I live does not have one single Camera shop.

    • @jubileesantosfilm
      @jubileesantosfilm Před 7 měsíci

      I actually put those white boarders/background when I'm editing . When I get the scans, It's just the picture. Some labs let you decide if you want the film border in the scan but for the mos part they just give you the scan with the photo only. As for labs in your city, I would just send them to a trust-worthy lab in your budget. For me, even though there's a local lab near me, it still send my film to The Darkroom Lab to get it developed and scanned. It's the cheapest/high quality scans I've come across.

    the camera is easy to open, 1 screw in the battery case, 4 in the corners of the film case. be careful with the two cables and the spring from the film case closure. After removing this screws you have access to the backside of that lens thing and you be cable to clean it from inside.

    • @jubileesantosfilm

  • @FrequenzBlog
    @FrequenzBlog Před rokem

    In my case this was a repair, not a modification. The plastic element was scratched and moldy / cloudy so I had to remove it. I read about this in some threads but your video made me actually attempt it and it worked like a charm. A few things to consider: 1. Slightly warm the front of the camera using a hairdryer in order to soften the glue. Mine was having loads of glue and using this technique allowed me to pull off the sticker without bending it. 2. In my case the plastic lens was really glued in place. I heated it again and pried away the glue using a scalpel. It was quite cumbersome and did not come off easily, but it eventually did. 3. Try to avoid using superglue - it really does not stick too well on the plastic and makes it look more messy. 4. Have a pair of tweezers ready, it makes putting the sticker back really easy. 5. Isopropyl alcohol really helped softening the glue as well. 6. Having a generic electronics repair kit really helps - you have plastic pryers in there that do not scratch the material as bad as a screwdriver does.

    @randallstewart1224 Před rokem

    When in good condition, these are very nice cameras to use and yield outstanding photos. However, they have their kryptonite. It lies in the focus mechanism, where critical parts in the focusing helix are made out of polycarbonate (fancy plastic). As a result, the focus mechanism is very sensitive to being physically damaged if the lens is hit head on, or to a lesser extent, from the side. So, rules for the GS645S: (1) When not taking photos, focus the lens to infinity and remove anything (like filters) from the lens front (lens cap okay). This retracts the lens behind the protective metal ring which surrounds it. (2) Never, ever, load film by placing the camera face down on the lens front. Retract the lens so the camera rests on the protective ring. (3) Never buy a GS645S which exhibits any issue with the focus mechanism, such as sticky operation, a grinding noise, or any lens wobble or looseness. There are two plastic plugs on the side of the lens mount, below the viewfinder. If they are other than smooth, undamaged, and flush with the camera front, reject the camera. (They are soft plugs which cover disassembly screws. Evidence of repairs attempted on the focus mount, which is not repairable.)

    • @randallstewart1224
      @randallstewart1224 Před rokem

      There are a couple of moving parts in your camera's rangefinder mechanism. When you move the focus lever on the lens mount, in one direction it physically drives the rangefinder. Moving it the reverse direction does not drive the rangefinder, which relies on a spring to move the mechanism to pull it back to the lever.. This is common to most camera rangefinders. Your problem is that the lubrication on these parts has gotten old and sticky, so the spring is not strong enough to pull the internal focus mechanism back quickly. Solution: Pay for a CLA of the camera generally, including opening the top of the camera to clean and relubricate the mechanism. If you have to ship it somewhere for that service, consider Camera Wiz in Virginia, which is familiar with the Fuji GS cameras.
