'This is putting the last tool in the toolkit.' - Supermarket divestiture
Had a great chat with Kieran Gilbert on Sky News. Dove into Labor's 'Future Made in Australia' plan - lots of talk but little detail and the risk of it just funding billionaire projects. Clearing up our stance on supermarket divestiture, a joint effort with the Liberal party. We're pushing for an impartial Supermarket Commissioner so farmers and suppliers can have their voice heard.

'It is high time the supermarkets treated farmers fairly.' - Divestiture Powers Bill
zhlédnutí 10Před 21 dnem
Divestiture Powers Bill Speech - in continuation The Nationals have been pushing for divestiture powers for our major supermarkets and calling on the Government to enforce the Grocery Code of Conduct for a while now. As usual, by the time the Government acts, it's too little too late. They're finally moving on the code but still won't consider divestiture. Like many, I'm frustrated by the lack ...

"Important that we get it right", Perin Davey on Divestiture Powers

It is no secret that the Nationals have been calling for divestiture powers for quite some time. My leader, David Littleproud, was calling for it as recently as February. But it is also very important that we get it right, that we don't rush divestiture powers through and that we take the time to ensure they are fit for purpose. Airlines Should Have to Pay For Delays

The aviation industry has gone backwards. Prior to COVID, if you booked an airline ticket, there was only a 1.5 per cent chance that your flight would be delayed. That could be considered fair and reasonable. In January 2024, 3.1 per cent of flights were cancelled, and the long-term average rate of cancellations has blown out. That's not fair and reasonable. We had lots of Australian manufacturers in Australia, many government departments did not support them. The Australian people either like cheap or popular brands, both are made in china. Most people and businesses either want to save money or make money, just saying that we will manufacture in Australia does not make it happen. Governments need to back up their words with actions like you only get solar rebates from solar panels made in Australia. Cheaper reliable electricity is a must, renewable energy is neither. We need to commit to using gas until atomic energy can be installed, while slowly expanding the renewables as battery technology improves. Change the law to ensure Australia has a AUSTRALIANS FIRST POLICY when it comes to gas exports, Set a max price for domestic gas.

We need to withdraw from the Paris Accord forthwith and use the most economical energy resources available. The carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels have the net beneficial effects of greening of the planet with increased agricultural yields (main effect), reduced winter heating costs, fewer deaths from hypothermia and postponement of the next glacial maximum. Net Zero is economically destructive delusional insanity.

The LNP should let the Labor party sweet on what detail is being proposed because this is exactly how the Labor party has been governing, tell the voter nothing and just come up with whatever policy the Labor wants to introduce in a partisan way on behalf of itself, the union movement and who ever supports Labor. Further there is little point of having any rational discussion with Labor or the Greens.

Labor have lost sight of what the announcement was really about - announcing a new renewable energy investment. And then using private jets, the most carbon intensive mode of travel possible to use to get there. They could have sent their entourage (minus security detail for the PM) to travel on commercial flights and used one plane for Sleazy and the Village Idiot, Bowen. These clowns want to destroy our prosperity and way of life to appease the climate Gaia gods and yet they won't hold themselves to the same standard. A pox on all pollies who infest our parliament.
