It still works in current patch but the timing is maybe tighter. It doesnt actually get caught on the Beasts body, the way it goes over you it actually hits the ground and it has to do another loop on the ground to turn around and catch you. Still fully dodgeable in current patch 1.12.2. It is very hard though and if he does wave of gold or swimming sword swing to body block you youre in trouble. Also as tühe ability to use Torrent is a trap, as far as I tested Elden stars gets a speed boost if youre on Torrent and you cant outrun it.

Design wise , laxasia is way better boss , malenia was hard because of her bullshit combos

you can't see enemy hp in ultra hard and so is in this video so its not easy mode, besides in easy mode you can directly apply elemental dmg in one hit to enemies

Glad you find it useful! I would stick with free weapons first and upgrade if you can. You probably won't get more blue weapons until after finishing The Dying Lands main quest. So if you want better weapons I'd fast track the main quests till you get the blue Cleaving Sharpshot Bow from an npc in the Broken Sky quest. Try to use the spike thrower too. It's very good for DPS even at green or blue rarity!

slicing hunter bow for component removal acid warrior bow is really good for shocking small machines and you can follow up with a critical strike afterwards proto spike thrower on any frozen big machines also if you have not done the shellwalker salvage quest take extra care to shoot of the lightning gun from that crab you only have 2 of these you can grab in no mans land the other one being in a non quest cauldron, and if you are upgrading your frost hunter then you will need a bellowback sac which you can get by selling the green rarity hunter or fire hunter bow cant remember which one it is

If you perfect guard their attacks you won't take any damage.

That sword is very dope but the moveset is a bit too savage for me lol

Are you using light roll for the first method? If so maybe they changed the light roll distance in recent update? Or if you get caught it's usually the roll timing of your roll. The timing is really tight you need to memorize the hitbox rhythm preferably by sound cue cuz going by visual reaction would be a bit slow. Second method is the same timing. The entire move has tight timing you need to memorize the rhythm. If you get hit partially through your you can adjust your timing by rolling a bit earlier or a bit later.

@@ashleytsuigamerI'm using light roll for both methods. Still fighting her ever since I left this comment and things have not improved. I've focused solely on the second method in the video, and I am still getting completely tracked while strafing to the left and rolling nearly frame-perfect before the attack hits.

I finally managed to kill her only because I got insane RNG and she only waterfowl'd once the entire fight. Some notes I've observed regarding this method: After analyzing my own footage frame-by-frame, it seems that when she swoops in close during the second method, it actually turns your camera and I just didn't notice it. That's the main reason I was failing to get the dodge window correctly. The second reason was because I was not spinning her correctly; from extensive testing, I found the most consistent success strafing her while holding the thumbstick towards her, like in a 10'oclock position. Additionally, I was not pointing the thumbstick in the correct direction. There are certain points you have to hold the thumbstick during the first roll according to her spin position. From what I observed, when I got close to overspinning her, I had to stick hard-north when executing the roll, whereas if I didn't really spin her too much, I would have to roll a bit to the right. Lastly, for the best spin results, I had to stick to her like glue and offer not even a single step of distance, or else she would simply track my entire strafe. You were also right about the rhythm of the move, that was something that I just needed to spent a LOT of time understanding. A few hours after posting my last comment I was able to use this information to survive waterfowl about 60-70% of the time, and completely avoid it maybe 1 out of 10 tries. Thanks for the video, I very likely wouldn't have been able to figure any of this out without using your video as a guide! I still wasn't able to execute the method perfectly most of the time but it was enough to survive at least the very end of the first flurry.

All the big dragon fights are no go for lock-on that's for sure! Going long range using bow is best like you said. I once use Latenna for the frost dragon, she pretty much soloed the dragon for me while I keep distracting the dragon away from her. Will def do some more RL1 when the DLC is out 😆

There's a lever at 0:53 (to the right of a hanging carcass when P walked off the elevator) to change the direction of the elevator. you need to travel up to that point to activate the lever first.

it's in the description: Spin her clockwise and roll behind her (if you're facing her you'll roll to your left (up/up-left on the joystick). Then the rest is the same.

@ashleytsuigamer Thank you! It looks like you need two rolls to dodge the first flurry. So the second roll is down on the joystick? It's hard to tell what the input should be because on the screen, your character's movement is two rolls away from Malenia. BTW this is my first Souls game as well, even though I prefer lock on whenever possible, same as you, some bosses in this game are really bad locked on when using a short melee weapon. Fortissax, Placidusax, Regal Ancestor Spirit and Dragonkin soldier are all this way.

@@ryemseptende I haven't done this for months so it's either the same direction as the first roll or down. just try it out a couple times you'll know the general direction. and yes fighting big bosses just don't use lock on. I just add another button for my sprint/dodge so it's easier to sprint without lock on.

​@@ashleytsuigamer After some testing, I believe up(up-left) for the first roll and down for the second roll is correct! I've seen videos where a single light roll gets you to safety from the first flurry with the spin approach. But for me, sometimes it takes two rolls to not get caught even though I am light rolling.
