Also check trigger point therapy. Search the muscle name trigger point and then follow the instructions
that second part lifting 1 leg up really hits the muscle spot

I Have tight hip flexors (limits my range of motion,and is uncomfortable) this really gets them,but overnight just goes back to tight again (usually around 3am)....thanks for sharing

Thanks. I have trouble turning my foot all the way to vertical and feel a quite intense stiffness on the inside of the thigh, is that the semimembranosus restricting that?

I have had pain in this muscle for more than 15 years and just today i knew its name.

I had part of my median meniscus removed. Will this stretch affect my knee adversely?
Everyone's post operative experience is different but it shouldn't be a problem if you have full pain free range range of motion in the knee. Always be gentle when trying a new stretch and don't stretch to the point of pain.
This really does work if done before going to bed to prevent night shin cramps

Try using a towel to bridge the gap between your hand and foot, making this a lighter and easier stretch. See my detailed description in my reply to another commenter. Hope this helps, thank you 😊
