Looks like a really nice bothy.
That rock looked sloppy 😅 looks like boggy ground too. Looks a nice bothy mind, lovely views 😊 bet it was good to get the fire going
Oh the walk in was EXTREMELY BOGGY, Yasmin! But yes, well worth it as the bothy was a little stunner, small but perfectly formed 😀
So beautiful...
It's one of my absolute favourites - views to die for (quite literally if you don't watch your step! 😂), jaggedy rocks, a beautiful lake below and a great summit. Got to get there early before the crowds though... 🙂
@@northernmonkeydan1940 How long did it take? Were you on your own? Must have been so liberating, I envy you
@@julijanad6320 Hey Julijana, I'm on my own most of the time! (Yes, I was alone ) It took 3 hours or so, I took my time, as you should on Striding Edge (it needs to be savoured). Right now I'm on Conwy mountain in my tent. It's raining but it's great. Hope you're doing good, miss you on the waking nights 🙂
Hey, I just posted a reply, but can't see it here, I am so confused rn! Did I send it in another video perhaps, or it just disappeared😮?! Not sure if I should just write it again, well, just in case.. Well, great for you, being out in nature again! How is the weather, can you see the stars and the see at night? Was this your first night? What's the plan for tomorrow? You can send me pics via email if you like. For me, it's been very quiet workwise. Check with your menager if there are any upcoming shifts that needs cover 😅 Also I hope I'll get to try out my binoculars soon 🤗
@@julijanad6320 I've had messages disappear on CZcams too - it's weird and annoying! Headed home on the train now, only out for one night (a storm coming apparently?) Couldn't see any stars last night, too much cloud and rain. Not much sleep but still had a lovely evening 😀 I'll gladly send you some pics but don't have your email address! Your name is top of the list for any waking night shifts that need covering, I promise you! 🙂
Cute wee toilet(from the outside). Seems far away from the bothy?
Very cute! Always nice when there's a toilet there 😀 It was just across a little bridge from the bothy, not too far. Greensykes was another little beauty, I need to get back to Scotland!! Love it so much
Would love to spend couple of days there! Seems so peaceful and out of this world. What did you use the water from the river for? Is it safe to drink(silly question?)? 1:53mins was a really nice sight.
Hey there! Yeah, it's an amazing place, our favourite bothy of the trip, no doubt. The walk in was beautiful too, along the river the whole way, probably only a couple of miles but felt like we arrived in a different world. The water from the river would almost certainly be fine to drink as it is, but we always boil or filter it just to be on the safe side! We couldn't reach the bothy we were supposed to be going to the night after due to a road closure, so we ended up coming back here for a 2nd night - and really glad we did, an incredible place, absolutely magical 😀
The scenery is stunning, and the viaduct majestic! Liked the 🎵🎶
It's a truly wonderful place 🙂
Btw, I did a good job today, results are pleasing!
@@julijanad6320 Ahh, I knew you would, didn't doubt it for a second 😉 Sorry I was so late this morning, still can't believe I did that! I never do that! 😟😂
You still thinking about that 🙈
@@julijanad6320 Yeah, a little bit 🤣
Route now is all off road avoiding the A831 other than about 250meter at Millness Cottage.
I love Abe's new multifunctional gear that he's carrying in his hand. Would be great to know which brand it is and if it's available for under 500 quid. Suppose it's made of some hight tech carbon fiber. 🎉 Great to watch your short films 😊
Can't think of anything even remotely funny enough to match that excellent comment, Stefan - love it! 🤣🤣🤣👍🏻
@@northernmonkeydan1940 ❤️
Great stuff ! Really enjoying your recent series of bothy films hope you both enjoyed the trip as much as it looked like you did in the films. Atb Fraser 👍🏼
We loved it man, 5 absolutely mint bothies, hard to see how it could have been better. Always great to hear from you Fraser, all the very best buddy 👍🏻
Ayeup Dan, good to see your doing well m8, loving the vids 😁 Mark.D.
Nice one man, cheers! Hope you're doing good 👍🏻
Top bothy, the FC usually leave chopped wood in the Kielder area bothies, to stop idiot,s cutting live wood.
Ahhhhh😬. The rough bounds of knoydart. Still watching only part way through your film . You cheeky 🦧
Heyup😊. Nowthen .. What a pure gem of a film😊😊😊👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🙏
You're too kind, Fraser - thanks man! 😄👍🏻
@northernmonkeydan1940 Thanks for putting in the effort man. And happy you clearly enjoyed your experience. 😊😆🧐👍🏼👍🏼💥
Wow Scenery is very beautiful place
Nowthen! Have you been adopted by our extended family?🧐. Yer films just take us back to so many holidays 😊
Hey Fraser! That's nice to hear, fantastic memories I'm sure. All the best buddy, hope you're well 👍🏻
Ayup Dan, good to see you out in the wild. Hope you’re well. 👍
Well I absolutely loved that, filmed and edited so nicely. I do hope to get to Scotland this year ❤ Cheers Dan 👍🏕️
Cheers Dave. Yeah, I'm planning another trip already, love the place. And need to do it before the midges come out to play! 👍🏻🙂
Very nice
Judging by the amount of luggage you brought you are still in that bothy 😂 Good to see you again ❤
Hahaha, it was all wood in the "front rucksack", Stefan! Actually works pretty well in balancing the load too 😂 Hope you're well my friend 👍🏻
Fantastic Dan, just makes me wish I was there 👍
Nice one Dave. Yeah, watching it makes me wish I was back there! 🤣 Good times
Lovely to see you both out again. Its been a while. I was watching your affric kintail trip again as im doing it in april. Thanks for sharing 🎉
Cheers Emz, hope you're doing good. Some truly incredible scenery on the AK, you'll have a great time. Camban bothy worth a stop as well 🙂👍🏻
Lovely work Dan, looks good !
Nice one Ben! Yeah, it was a really good one 👍🏻
Nice one, and great to be able to catch up with you two again. TFS Dan and ATB 🏕️👍
Cheers Dave! Hope you're well 👍🏻
Fantastic 🍻
Mint😊
Cold! Just like now! Love it! 👍🏻
Awesome
N"other gem of avid from NMD inc😊. Let's hope you get more spare time to get out n up.👍😆🙏
Thanks Fraser. Yep, more spare time needed! Hope you're well bud 👍🏻
One of favourite walks, beautifully filmed mate. 👍
Mine too, cheers Spencer, hope you're doing good mate 👍🏻
What a perfect hiking day! Glad that you are back to show us more beautiful parts of the funny island 🤗
Cheers Stefan, hope you're well my friend 👍🏻
@@northernmonkeydan1940 yep, but I missed you 🙃
The views are always fantastic for the summit 😊 some great views along the edge, I’ve managed swirral before but striding is too much for my vertigo 😅 the view over the tarn from there though is great. You had what looks like pretty perfect weather conditions for it.
Nice one Yasmin, yeah the conditions were incredible. Great work on your channel by the way, so many videos in such a short space of time - you obviously love this stuff as much as I do..
Terrific. Just watched on a projector screen and I could feel it in my knees! Views are magnificent.
And that music eh? "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe...." 😉
Hi Dan, just watched your bothy series which was really enjoyable but commenting on here to let you know comments are turned off. Anyway you may have set them to off so kind regards and really enjoyed them all. 🙏🍻
Hi Dan - looking at doing Inverness to Drumnadrochit and then turning onto the AKW myself in April (2023). Great looking first campsite can you remember its rough location?
Wonderful hike, beautiful views. Those pods are cool with the heated floor. I would love to stay somewhere like that
Are you still hiking
Hi Dan, just binge watched your entire EHW videos and thoroughly enjoyed each one mate. Particularly enjoyed the section where you also gave a rundown on your bothy tour and showed us pictures from that adventure. The EHW is on my to do list and this has certainly given me a great look at what to expect. Those first days with the snow were spectacular. All the best mate. I'm looking forward now to checking out more of your content. Subbed! 👍
Hey Carl! Lovely comments, really appreciate that. Honestly, I think I'm a waffling numpty in these videos, but glad you enjoyed them! The vids get better I think (I hope!) Gonna check out your videos too. Cheers Carl, all the very best, Dan 👍🏻
Just popped into my mind here. If you put a hungry hippo style ball in the bathtub corner then used a loop knot over the outside you could tie down the tub without seeing a loop in. I dunno what that knots called, might be a button knot 😂
Very good review. I just subbed now. This is the perfect tent for autumn camping. I don’t own a 2person tent and I’m looking for a ul 2man palace. The light weight means I can carry more luxuries to fill that space 😂.
Hello, may I ask if there are any supply store that can buy dehydrated meals along the WHW? I am thinking about what should I buy, WindBurner (only boil water and dehydrated meals) or MSR WINDMASTER (can cook food), I am a budget traveler, so...
Hi Fungo, the only place I know for certain that you can buy dehydrated meals is at Tyndrum (which is pretty much the halfway point) but there are other places you can get food (although not necessarily on a tight budget!) I just had a stove that did water boiling and it was absolutely fine 👍🏻
Hi Dan, How do you solve power charging problem in your whole trekking days?
Hey Dan, hope you're well and also I hope you didn't quit filming. It's very quiet here 😐🍀🤞
Just found this WHW that's me settled for a couple of hours of chilled out scottishness thank Dan😀
Nice one bud! Hope you enjoy the series - the scenery gets more and more spectacular as it goes, it's a fantastic trail. Tried to do it some justice in the filming but obviously it's never quite the same as being there! Nice one Micah, all the best, Dan
Real good video I enjoyed it pal , and red screes is in my top five fells.
Thanks Micah, glad you enjoyed it. You know, it doesn't seem to be a particularly "fashionable" fell but I reckon it'd be in my top 5 lakes peaks as well. Just something about it... 👍🏻
Underfloor heating! Impressive. 👍🏼
Great Vid Dan from a British point of view, But how do you close the fly from the inside?
My apologies Roy, I don't quite understand the question...?
@@northernmonkeydan1940 Thanks Dan for getting back to me so fast, You showed how the non zipped door closed using the guy line and the clip, and further up the toggle to close the door fly, How can you close yourself in from the inside, Thanks Roy
@@albert21able I get you now, Roy. It's a great shout. Difficult to explain in a text, you've pointed out a big flaw in my video - I'm gonna record another bit that shows exactly what you're asking about 👍🏻
Dan it's because of your great video that it brought to my attention, Iam getting into ultralight camping, Iam also interested in buying the Z Pack Arc haul Ultra , You also brought up the point of the bulk of the tent and wonder if it would fit in the bottom of the pack, Thanks so much for your reply Dan
@@albert21able Ahh, that's lovely of you to say, thanks Roy. Honestly, the bulk is no problem, fits easily in the bottom of any pack. It was difficult to think of anything bad to say about the duplex - still feel the same way - it's amazing, genuinely amazing
Great day for it and a Strauss classic. 👍🏼
A very stirring piece of music! And yeah, lovely little walk - nice to be out with my better half too! 🤠
@@northernmonkeydan1940 Nice memory for you Dan, we’ll be old and grey one day mate.
Pub grub. Difficult to beat in these circumstances Dan.
Gotta say, it was a pretty good feed, Dougie! Slightly made up for Ade's disappointment... I think?! Cheers for watching bud, All the best, Dan 👍🏻
@@northernmonkeydan1940 Lol. Same to your good self. Cheers.
Looks like fun.
Fair play to you lads on the effort with the pronunciation. Not easy for those not raised in the Welsh language. Great video and great views.
Great video 😊 Glad you enjoyed the pod stay. I have only stayed in them once along the whw but it made a nice change to camping out on a trail
Thanks Yasmin! Yeah, the pod was a really nice change. Gotta admit, I wasn't really up for it initially, but once we were settled in it was like, "aaahhhh, this is the life!" 😄 Just about to check out your channel 👍🏻🤠
