I had one of these batteries - it worked well for a couple of months, then I think that a cell or the bms went bad, either way the battery was not functional. Factory made a swift refund. Not sure if mine was a fluke or what, but that was my experience.
How do you know when the battery is fully charged with that controller?
Thanks for sharing your QRP experience. Not using the output without a cutoff was a bit ah-ha for me with another batter pack that is similar for jump starts.
Great video, thanks!! Robert K5TPC
At least it's trying to send a positive message at the time..
So even though the cells in the end are all going in the same place, does it actually matter in the order that you set them in when you create the headway bank?
I DID MINE IN A FEW SECONDS WITH JUST A PINPOINT TOOL. SCRAPED THE BRIDGE OUT. WORKED FINE.
Niceee
I just put mine inside a container with aluminum foil around the container and grounded the foil works a bit
Is it meant to be backwards english "stop war"
I'm a bit shocked to see the inside of it. It looks like they were in a hurry, not professionally done in my opoininnio. I thought LDG products were better than that. I at least hope it performed okay in the field.
At :30 you say "to control the temperature to what ever I set it". Does that mean it can simultaneously heat and cool as necessary? In my app I want my photochemistry to be at a fixed temp, despite the ambient temp. I've seen various units that have a selector for hot/cold.. are there others that can detect and ..as in your case ... make the temp as designated? Does the module expand on this... ie heat or cool as needed to reach the temp.. or is this solely related to the function of the cooler and your thermostat limited to a certain range (voltages?) In your test/demo you have the unit powered (male cig lighter inserted to 12V source) The female cig lighter goes to cooler' input (Male12V cig? ) Not afraid of new challenges.. but fundamental education lacking
This looks interesting.. Does it throttle the input to lower or increase the temp, or is this simply a thermometer or thermostat? ie Can you set a temp and plug in series with the the power . MY idea is to use a thermoelectric cooler to keep the photo chemicals at a constant temperature.. would this be something for/like that?
Is this a mini pole or standard 10m pole?
Haha.. The title should say "I converted my Spiderbeam into a DX Commander"! LOL :)
I thought the same DX commander ;))
@@RvtvvideoproduktiesNl Yeah!

Does this fit a DX Commander Classic pole?
Thanks good to know
Thanks, I have a high speed USB camera which won't connect when my MPPT controller is connected and generating...:( It took me close to a year to think of this as the problem.
I love my 38120 Headway cells , I made a home made 4S-2P power station with them . But one of the coolest things about the 38120s is that a 12V battery can start a car , I haven't done it yet with my battery but I will eventually . Can the Bioenno battery start a car ? Happy building :)
I dont see why not. Mist portable jump starter are made of the same battery as Bioenno.
They can be charge with lead charger even mfg tell you can.. only issue it will only charge to 13.3
Looks messy inside. There's better looking ones online.
When I decided to make my e-bike my primary vehicle I discovered battery hookup. Their pricing seemed too good to be true. I purchased 15 36v 4.4ah (samsung cells) packs that were for hoverboards. I absolutely love these guys! They are hands down my first go to when it comes to lithium cells. They were honest and timely. I'm telling you it was the best deal I've ever gotten. They are the best in used cells and packs. And they are as honest as anyone in the battery business! If your on the fence I hope this helps u make the right choices. I've been had by throttle manufactures and bldc hub motor manufactures. But never in batteries because these guys are the best.
mine comes with a low voltage shutoff in the box going to the crocodile clamps which ive tested and it stops pretty reasonable 11V which with the 6ah im prettymuch never gonna reach since ill use a max if 3AH
I have three of these kits including a few spare batteries.. I use MTO Battery for rebuilding my packs with new cells.
Where did you get the larger vfo knob on your G90?

Thinking of doing it to my FT5DR but i saw pepole saying that they lost the functionality of programming via the USB cable or SD card. is it true?
Unfortunately I have no experience with the Mod on the FT5DR, if you have a problem it’s simple to just re bridge the two points.
It just makes it incompatible with the Backup.dat file already saved. You can make a new one. You basically lose all your settings once.
I just did this mod with great success!! But yes I wasn’t able to use my rt systems usb cable to reprogram all saved frequencies. I found a 16gb sd card saved it to that and voilà. Back to normal 🎉
Cool! But isn’t there an offset for FRS and stuff?
Yes , GMRS and FRS repeaters use an offset of 5 MHz (same as 440)
What means offset ? And how to do it ? Thanks
Do you think I could use the balcony rail as ground with this unun? thanks
I would give it a try, should work fine depending on how much surface area the balcony has.
@@W5IPAJASON it's actually the floor structure (a 4x1 meter metal grid) of the balcony on which wood tiles lay.
Sounds like a Cessna a bit, surprisingly!! Thought it will sound like C-130H Classic Herc, since C-27J Spartan sounds like C-130J Super Herc!!
I know I'm late to the party but does this mod expand JUST MARS/CAPthose frequencies? curious about the CB band. 26.9650-27.4050
This is just the “Mars Mod”.
What are the transmits?
Mine i bought from japan still cant get extended frequency and i open the rubber there is no om resistance
The japanese model is not able to do this mod. This is only for FT3DR
4 Amp draw , that's nerve racking , I have seen the Makita , it uses 2 , 18 v. batteries , it's been out for a while but no one sells it in the U.S.
How fuel efficient are these motors ? How much fuel do you think it would use on that 10 amp load for say 1hr ?
I have never actually tested it .modern engines are way more efficient, this was more of a novelty. (not sure if it was powering anything) but here is a interesting link)they got just under 7 hours per gallon. www.gasenginemagazine.com/gas-engines/maytag-gas-engine-experiment/#:~:text=float%20from%20a%20six%20cylinder%20carburetor%20in%20a,a%2055%20gallon%20barrel.%20A%20mixture%20of%2050
@@W5IPAJASON yes , modern engines won’t be starting though if a big cme or a emp are ever used . This would ..
I wish they'd chosen another method of selecting freqs. The way this is setup, specifically the last khz switch offering only 00, 25, 50, 75, means there are only like 5 or 6 6m channels to operate on. I wonder if there's a way to mod one of these to allow continuous control over the last two khz steps, so you could select, say, 51.560 or 52.570?
Man, this was good. I appreciate you putting a review on here about this device. I was looking for something similar and was glad I found this online. Thank you sir!
It's less illegal as more of a gray area.
I do the opposite. Drain the batteries into a known good pack that needs charging anyways. Once they’re all all discharged, I charge them up separately or in groups of 4 (if I’m working with more than 48 or so cells) to measure the capacity that I have and configure accordingly
I have balanced cells both ways. I agree with your technique of bottom up balance charging. Especially when using lith-ion chemistry. Lifepo is much more forgiving then lith-ion. And it's nearly impossible to get it to catch fire if you do mess up. If your in the used battery pack market (or used cell market) then battery hookup should be at the top of your list.
Just a word of caution... if you wire them all in parallel like you do for charging? You can have a really bad time... These cells can deliver **EIGHT HUNDRED AMPS** when shorted... half that gives you 400A of charging current for any battery that is lower voltage... and the cells are only rated for 200A continuous current draw. This means you damage both the higher voltage cells by drawing 400-800A, and that you damage the lower voltage cells by charging 400-800A when they're rated for 80A charge continuous.
Have you measured current when connecting cells in parallel? I’ve done it with 18650’s and typically with power cells you might see a 20A burst for a second that slows down to about 10A right away. That was on Samsung 25R’s
How efficient is it?
What I mean is how much current draw in darkness?
I see 95%
Thanks you. I had just ordered it and for the price was worried it would be RF loud. Good to know in theory it will be ok.
Battery hookup says the Ah rating is discharging 1.6a to 2.5volts. I found this out on my Second day of testing. I had a bunch to retest because I was going down to 2.0v
I go by data sheets not word of mouth. batteryhookup.com/products/used-headway-38120-hp-3-2v-8ah-lifepo4-battery
Something "you" designed, please get over yourself! DX Commander
Thank for watching, here’s one more for you czcams.com/video/GEGuTDNqbqE/video.html . Send me a DX Commander I’d be happy to use it.
To speed up my testing process. I set the discharge current to 20A. My result was roughly 5.18ah and lasted for 20 minutes till it reached 2v and the alarm 🚨 went off. A few minutes later nominal voltage rises to 3.08v I’m not sure how accurate my test is, but now I’ll try to discharge it at 2a
Hope the cells were built to discharge at 20amps. I would keep a eye on the cells u did that with. Compare them to the others u test. I have found that regardless of what's said or advertised, batteries prefer slow discharging as well as slow charging. You can really tell after 2 years in service. Every chemistry I've worked with performs better when slow charging is a option.
thanks, nice job 73 from kb2uew
how long did it take you to complete testing for all those batteries. Is there a faster way or a better load tester? Reason why I’m ask is because I bought over a hundred used cells from (BH ) and I would like to know what I have.
A successful (.2C)test will be about 5 hours. www.westmountainradio.com/cba.php
Wow, that a really long time. I have a 128 cells to test. It would take over a month! Is there any other possible way. Or a bigger capacity tester?
I use a home-brew version to activate parks. I use 29’ or 55’ of wire, though 29’ never failed me - I’m not sure if it makes a difference, except maybe on 40. I use a 31’ Jackite pole, making it a pure vertical. I’ve worked stations 9000 miles away with 10W CW, so I guess it’s a very effective antenna. My counterpoise is 16’, and I usually use a home brew 1:1 current balun. My rig is a KX2, and the tuner never fails to give me a match down to 60M. You will not be disappointed.
Good informative video. I purchased one off of Amazon for $81 and a 2 amp LiFePO4 charger to go with it. My battery came about 90% charged? I put the charger on it and it showed fully charged in less than one hour. I am getting another one shortly. They are great batteries for the price. You can use a lead acid battery charger on the battery. BUT.....it won't fully charge the battery since the SLA charger cuts off at a lower voltage. It won't harm the battery, it just won't fully charge. This brand battery is a big savings over the Bioenno battery. Barry, KU3X
Thanks for the nice video. Any special reason why you only did the test with only a 4 Amp load current? I would be interested to see how long it can run 20 Amps (max. continuous rating) and 40 Amps (max peak rating) as shown on your battery's label. Theoretically it should run for 1-hr on 20 Amps and 0.5-hr on 40 Amps, but would like to see their actual performance on these max. ratings...
The test I did was a standard .2 C rate discharge test , this testing standard is used to compare battery on an equal playing field (The load tester I was using is only capable 190 Watts so a 20 amp test is out). The 40 amp max you see is a BMS rating (wire size and solder joints) and has nothing to do with the battery rating . (If you are looking for a high amp draw battery check out the 38120 cell they are capable of a 15 C discharge rate)
