This beautiful piece of common land above the River Irwell in Ramsbottom was home to hedgehogs, kestrels, butterflies, wildflowers including common orchids. Then one day the bulldozers moved in and took this natural treasure away. Why Peel Holdings? Why?

Filmed with a drone, great unusual views of our home town.
This may be a big ask but I don't suppose you have the coordinates for the waterfall. I'm an amateur photographer and I'd like to take a look at this, it looks stunning..
U didn't show the heath n the downs. Probs understandable 😂
Mismo problema

We have been resurfacing the bridge today and came across your video, great filming.
lovely.the times i walked through the park to parish school.great tune it brought a tear to my eye
Great video. Crystal clear. I haven't lived in Alkrington for over 40 years but lived there for the first 24 of my life. Did not recognise much at all of the first half of the video, except Tonge Church and the Albany Mill, is it still? But Alkrington Hall is till there, as is my grandmothers and parents house, and the old Pessagnos Ice Cream dairy next to the hall. Alkrington Wood, in which I spent almost my entire childhood, has not been ruined, but I feel for those on Moss way with the motorway now next to them. Before that there was nothing. Good catch up for me. Thanks.
I am with you Nigel.....grew up in Greenson Drive off M/cr Old Road, so the footage over Rhodes lodges is so interesting especially the long views over to Middleton town centre, and Alkrington Hill. There are so many trees and woods these days that it's quite different to 40-50 years ago as a teenager roaming around there.
I was there 1974 to 1981. Bro Thomas was head.
Beautiful.. I can't wait to come visit
Lovely midd ❤️I miss it left at 16 it broke my heart
On my way there for a walk with the kids this morning
Great film, well done 👏
Thanks Carol, glad you enjoyed it
I CAN SEE MY STREET!
I have the same ticking noise coming from by 2013 explorer as well. Valves were done recently by the dealer. Only 31000kms. I'm not sure if that ticking is Normal
Is it wierd that this is my school haha
my old school
How a wonderful song! love it !
Thank you for posting this. I grew up in Greenmount, on Byron Rd and very often went fishing in, what I remeber to be three lodges. The middle one was very good for Perch from what I remember but then the dam/sluice gate rusted away and it drained almost completely. The top lodge, much bigger, wasn't so good despite the amount of minnows but the outflow in front of the bottom dam was good for trout - who would have thought it. Thanks Again
Very arty, St Leonards the only church with wooden turret in UK.
I along with about forty others was the first intake to attend this school.I endured a bus ride from Walkden every morning that picked us up along the way through Whitefield etc. The Headmaster was Brother Damian, the Teachers were De La Salle Brothers and a few Laymen , they were a product of their era and that is not praise, I left after one year......
peejpom sounds like an unhappy time there....Brother Thomas was the head during my time from 1975 onwards and there was a strong discipline in place, firm but fair.
