  • @JasonTryingToHelp-w3p

THIS MAY HELP SOME PEOPLE I'm 54. April 2, 2023 I had my first aura (without headache). Since then I've had 4-5 episodes per month (41 in total); sometimes twice in one day. I had an MRI and a visit to an Ophthalmologist; everything was fine. On April 11, 2024 I had a very unusual episode- a scary one. The entire field of vision was moving left to right and back again- bouncing side to side. It lasted a few hours and then it resolved. It never reoccurred but it scared me. I wanted to see if there was anything I could do to stop the aura so I made some changes: I was taking a blood thinner (Xarelto 10mg) and multivitamins/supplements (one-a-day vitamin, fish oil, saw palmeto, vitamin D tablet- nothing strange)- taken on the same day. I decided to both space them out and separate them. I now take the blood thinner on Monday, Wednesday, Friday afternoon and Sunday morning. I take the vitamins Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I initiated this spacing on April 20. My last aura was on May 23. I haven't had an aura in 78 days and counting! I'm not sure if I was taking too many blood thinners, too many multivitamins, or it was the interaction between the two. I did read later that multivitamins, while being useless can also interact with medication. I no longer take that multivitamin tablet at all now. No one told me that auras could be caused by the interaction of medications/vitamins. I hope this helps some people!

I have experienced auras without migraines for some time. I am 68 yo, and it first happened about 20 years ago. They were infrequent (maybe one every few months) and my ophthalmologist said it was nothing to be concerned about. About 6 months ago I got a series of frequent auras, up to 3 or 4 per day. This lasted for about a week. About that time I had an ophthalmology appointment and everything looked good, at least as far as my eyes were concerned. Then the auras stopped, and I didn't have a single aura 5 months. Then I had 1 or 2, and over the past week I have had several per day (up to 5!) but it seems to be reducing now. No other symptoms, no blurred or double vision, no problems with peripheral vision, no numbness, nothing. Recent check-up and bloodwork was all good. Not sure what is going on or what to do about it, if anything. Wish there was more known about what causes these and how to treat them.

I've had migraine aura for about 19 years. It always comes-on suddenly, with no warnings; although, most of the time, I can tell when it's going to start. I had a Whiplash incident about 5 years before I started having these episodes - never had them growing -up, so I believe they were triggered by neck and head injury. Anyway, I had stroke-type symptoms last year - which really concerned me. I had to be rushed to the ER. This had never happened before. I was really scared at that point. I had taken an anxiety drug, magnesium Bysglicinate, and Coq10, prior to going to the ER. While I was on the hospital bed for a little while, the symptoms started subsiding. The Doctor came in and talked to me, but passed me off like I was lying about my condition. I live in a small, rural community- where they take health lightly. Now, I'm going to the Chiropractor. The Auras are not as bad as before, but recently they are occurring more frequently. I have had an eye exam, but the EYE Doctor said that I have no eye diseases or retinol detachment. I have noticed that staying hydrated with water and electrolytes help them alot. I also have to stay away from processed foods, caffeine, carbs, and sugar. I have also found that getting better sleep has helped, and taking Tylenol.

You already found triggers to your migraine on your own. Avoiding such triggers would be the first step for preventing migraines. A headache specialist could be very helpful
