Solo Overnighter Hunting NZ Red Deer
Join me as I head deep into the stunning NZ back country and stay in a new hut, all the while hunting for a deer to fill the freezer. My plans changed multiple times during this adventure due to other hunters and trampers but I still had a great time and even got onto a nice stag.

Join me on this overnight adventure with two of my sons as they conquer their first ever survival type mission. I'll teach them to build a shelter with sticks and a tarp, nearly light a fire, tie some knots and practice our skills with the Bows. Oh and we catch a monster eel and eat it for breakfast. So tune in to see if the boys survived and if they ate the eel??

Join me while I kayak across a lake to a secluded bay and overnight camp under a cheap tarp and cook over an open fire. I'll also run out a short trap line for possums and with any luck cook one up for breakfast. All this while getting caught out in the rain.

Been very busy with family and work but still managed a couple of missions. Firstly I wrapped the new Hilux which was something I really wanted to do with my old 80series. Came up great but took longer than I anticipated and then I finally got out in the new kayak for a quick fishing session. Had success on the first drop but jinxed the rest of the morning lol. Thanks heaps for your support team

Finally getting back into things now that our insurance has paid us out and have been replacing all the toys that were stolen. Got out for a couple of detecting missions with Digger Mike and Josh with my new Equinox 900 detector. Gonna take a it of getting used too lol.

Love that hut, was there a month ago and the woodshed was full. Disappointing to see people haven’t been replacing what they use.
Yea I gathered up a bit but there wasn’t much dead wood around.

Hard luck on that stag but as you mentioned it was only an 8 pointer, so probably not worth abseiling up that sharp rock face of a cliff. Not by yourself anyway. Safety first as much as he would have been tempting. Nice hut there too. Its hard to get a doc hut to yourself these days and you had a couple of 10 year olds to keep you up. It's the way it goes sometimes. Looks like a potential fishing area there, too, that river. Particularly in fishing season
Yea bro I fish the lower sections of this river regularly. Didn’t see any fish up in the gorge though. Floods real bad. Yea I was definitely dreaming thinking I was going to have that hit to myself 🤪🤪

Generally just my nose. I have a fairly good sense of direction. I do a lot of map study before I hit a new area and also have a gps as a back up.

Wasn’t quite that easy. He was about 800mtr uphill from me and downwind. I should’ve zoomed out with the big camera. Hindsight is a wonderful thing🤪🤪

I reckon eel is best smoked but I cooked those bits just in butter. Haha the little Viking axe. Works well for a home made one. Cheers bro🤙🤙
