PETER---Thank you much for your CZcams videos. And I LOVE your program on SIRIUS radio. I am an old Peter & Gordon fan. Before I pass away [and All Things Must Pass Away] I am hoping you can answer my question,..,, At the beginning of "A Day in the Life" I can hear the fade out of Sgt. Pepper's Reprise and Paul's voice can be heard yelling something, Do you know what he is saying? Thanks in advance, sir!
Peter knows and had stated that JPM died and Billy came in
Where did he state this?
Thank you so much for this piece of music history!
I was 13 when this song came out! Great song
Jeremy has a great voice😮.
Very cool to hear Paul sing World Without Love. A fave of mine. Always enjoyed Peter and Gordon. Peter became such a talent on his own!
Loved this!
What a handsome man Gordon was.
That looked and sounded like Jeremy Clyde of Chad and Jeremy…..
Wow.....Paul wrote the Bridge only for 8 minutes!🎉❤😊
Wonderful!!!!!!!!
Paul never talks about Jane & Jane never talks about Paul.
And we shouldn't talk about people we don't even know. Who gives a shit? It's the music that matters.
Fake headline, but a great story told beautifully. And I loved that sly, quick attack on Trump.
RIP PAUL X
Peter and Jeremy with love
What a great story! I loved he & Gordon's harmonies! Love hearing these stories from the early days straight from the person who lived it. 👍
I didn't go to one concert in those 4 years without any any of the artists not making some dig at the Orange man and how everything sucked then because of him. These 2 didn't fail. Your sick hatred brought on the REAL mess we're actually living now. I hope you're all happy with yourselves.
Yeah, right. Blame the victims for complaining and making the perpetrators worse. How stupid. The REAL cause is NOT ENOUGH people complaining, and too many ignoring their responsibility to complain.
I think I recall hearing an interview with John where he said he didn't like the "please, lock me away" part of the song. Perhaps that was enough for them to give the song away, rather than work on changing the lyric.
Yes, apparently that cracked up John & George as it sounded like he was being sent to a loony bin.
This is beautiful. Love how Peter Asher is open and warm to the audience here!
For years I thought of Peter Asher as Linda Ronstadt's producer/manager. I had no idea he was also part of the British invasion with the Beatles. This was a great story!
Two of my favorite songs from the 60's were world Without Love and Nobody I Know.
Sounds great . . .
Pete and golden still have that sound and voice today as they did 60year's ago,my favorite song by them is distant shore ,their harmonies were so easy to the ear ,other songs they had were good sang by others every ones gone to the moon a world without love but I loved their version,BA DSY of those early days of the 60s were great ,and still today they sound like they did 60year's ago ,the only thing now is there known all over the world now,,✌👍😘💛💜💓💚🙌😎💏💓👏🌸🌹🍁🌻🌼☀🌈👍✌🌈
believe me slower hard rock bluesy as all get is the wat this song should done ...the up tempo pop style does not do justice .. it should be done suicidal .. Janise Joplin ..
Beautiful song.
2:18 John doesn't like World Without Love but had no problem with Revolution # 9! R.I.P. GORDON WALLER 7/17/2009
No accounting for taste. He also liked Yoko.
RIP dear Gordon.

I saw Peter and Gordon in Troy, New York in 1965 when they were first wave British invasion stars. Peter's flaming red hair was unforgettable. I always wondered about sister Jane's red hair and seeing Peter it was like seeing her. She was the girl the entire world wanted to be, Paul McCartney's girl. What a time it was. They were on the same bill as Manfred Mann (Do Wha Diddy Diddy)................the time was indescribable to anyone not there. No words possible.
This isn't the video I thought it was, but it's wonderful. What incredible stories.
Wasn’t this act Peter and Gordon? I think so.
Yeah…I would imagine the written lyrics would be worth a few quid.😃👍🏾
Peter is very knowledgeable. He got a lot from Paul, as well as George Martin and became a very successful producer. His father was a famous physician, and he's just very naturally bright. And Jane got over Paul, and had a wonderful life.
Peter’s mom was a music professor
@@davanmani556 she taught the hobo
Peter & Gordon were brilliant... Just Brilliant...
The beginnings stories are always so fascinating!
Great song.
I loved the demo, amazing.
At a time when everyone talks about their exes it's refreshing how neither Paul nor Jane ever discuss their relationship, and Peter respects that (and apparently didn't take sides). The other thing I get from this is that being upper class (Iike Jane and Peter) doesn't necessarily make you an a-hole.
Only an a-hole assumes character based on class or status.
This is not about Jane, it's about how even a song the Beatles decided not to record became a #1 hit when Peter Asher asked if he & Gordon could record it. Paul kindly finished it off and gave it to them. What a guy.
And he did the same with Cilla Black.
And some random band in Spain.
@@docsavage8640 yup Paul changed some random guy’s life in Spain with a throwaway called Penina. Crazy how many lives he’s changed. There’s so many stories like this
Awesome stuff!!! :)
And a very nice house it is too
Peter Asher has been James Taylor’s manager since the Apple record days. James Taylor’s first album was on the Apple label, Peter saw Taylor’s potential and became his manager and produced a lot of his albums.
He also managed Linda Ronstadt
You cut off the song in the middle?? ARGH!!!
I can't imagine writing a song like World..... and just letting it sit, even if king John didn't like it. What talent those guys had.
The song was unquestionably wrong for the Beatles. Broadway songwriters cut songs constantly, sometimes very good songs.
😆 🤣 😂 most Broadway songwriters are pretty schmaltzy
So John rejects AWWL because the lyric ; 'Please lock me away, and don't allow the day,' are laughable to him; and not very long after that he writes; 'If I could get my way, I'd get myself locked up today but I can't, so I'll cry instead.' And how about the really tough rock lyrics; Don't want to cry when there's people there, I get shy when they start to stare, I' m going to hide myself away....... Yes, I can see how McCartney's lyrics weren't tough enough ¬‿¬
I toured South Africa with Peter and Gordon. Peter was really nice to us, though he did nick my girlfriend in Durban. To be fair, she did ask if it was ok, and in those days being friends with the Beatles was to be a star, and I couldn't compete with that. Gordon was much less friedly. I asked him to tell me how he bent notes on the blues harp and he got quite nasty. I wasn't going to lie down for that, so bought a harmonica and stayed up till 3 in the morning until I'd worked out the bending. That was a good time to be a musician.
Paul was/is flawed -- like the rest of us. Some Beatles fans -- only some -- have a problem seeing Paul as imperfect, i.e., as someone who cheated on his fiance'. The truth always sets you free.
I think Jane got over Paul all right. Usually what happens with young people.
Jane was only 17 when she started dating Paul. I don't know about you guys, but there is a huge difference between the 17 year old version of me, and the 22 year old version. The further I get from the 22 year old version, I'm different from that, and it's almost like the 17 year old version was a different person, in a different life. I'm sure she looks back at that, and just considers it a learning experience, and she moved on and became an adult, and did well for herself, as did Paul.
@Kate like I said Kate, people change, and there is a myriad of factors that go into that. For Paul, he became one of the most famous people in the world, so there is definitely a change that occurs when that level of fame is reached. We are only left to speculate how Jane really feels because as you said, it is something she chooses to be private about, and that leaves us to try and read between the lines about what that means. I know her brother remained close with Paul over the years, and can be heard to this day on the Sirius Beatles channel. Whatever went down between Paul and Jane didn't affect that friendship, so hopefully that means Jane is truly happy with her life, and her choices and not scarred by the years with Paul. We'll never really know unless she has a public, candid conversation about it.
Agree a the end of the day they were just 4 Liverpool very lucky guys to have the chance to do something they like, but they are human beings with mistakes thats all
@@johngoldsmith9752 agree
Peter was so cute when he was younger with his neat looking red hair and his smile
Would have been nice to hear all of the song....
Tinha que ser legendado em português. É uma pena.
Aw it stopped too soon ! 😫
that was a rude ending
