Hand wired board construction improves midrange heft while improving the highs.... this is from their ads. not really, tone king is pcb. sound good but $3k? for pcb? not! look up pics online to prove my point

Is the MkIII coming soon? Now that the Royalist has been updated. The MKIIs came out... both is 2016.
Lead channel is highly underrated! Once you get it in a band mix wow! You can do classic rock to Queens Of The Stone Age type stuff. No pedals needed given you have the mid and tone control! I’ve taken a more liking to it after using the clean so long. Clean is for surfy stuff and pedals…Lead is for early Marshall Super Lead Crunch sounds and can be tailored to a lot of things.

Old but just to put this out there…I’ve had the entire line after BAD took over. They did not mess with the Imperial MK2 build outside the speaker. And it stands up real well, and is popular for a reason. I had 3 Sky Kings that were redone by BAD in 2018-2023 new launch. All duds man, and resale is horrible on the used market. Buying a new Imperial MK2 is rock solid these days. Don’t fix what isn’t broken, and speaker choice is up to you. But I didn’t like what happen to the Sky King. I went back to the Imperial MK2, still produced by BAD and it’s THE amp. The Sky King is not a better version in 2023. It is a relaunched version, that I feel is not engineered very well. However the Imperial MK2 is still a flagship product for a reason, and has stood the test of time. I’ll always take a Imperial MK2 over Fenders current Reissues. But I’d take a Fender stock cheap HRD over a Sky King. Not to knock on the company at all, as I’m an owner of the Imperial MK2 and they offer good support. But BAD does not work on the amps anymore. It’s a swap out like most companies. So if the build already is prone to issues, you aren’t going to get something better….just maybe more tame. But I def vouch for the Imperial MK2 being the absolute best by Tone King even under BAD company.

Bought one 4 months ago, and what a stunning piece of kit it is! My Wood Library PRS Custom 24 sounds fantastic through it, but surprisingly so does my old Epiphone Les Paul Goldtop.
6 1/2 years later, I just picked up a Falcon Grande. You built something special. So many great tones from one amp.
Can you please tell me if with the attenuator at maximum position you can play at bedroom, not even livingroom level? I read a review that even with the attenuator at maximum volume reduction its still too loud. I'm seriously thinking of buying it, but this is extremely important to me. Thank you so much!
@@vladi7441 At Max attenuation, it is very quiet. I play a lot with the Gain turned up and on Max attenuation while watching TV with my wife and she doesn't complain.

The only way to record it is through a mic, while there is an attenuator built in ! So, if I don’t want to record through a mic, i must buy ANOTHER attenuator ?? INSANE !! This goes for all their amps except the Gremlin which is useless due to it’s one channel. Well done, you IDIOTS at Tone King !

With an ABY switch the Gremlin is a 2 channel amp.

I love the idea of the Iron Man II built in, but I don't see the line out option for silent recording that the outboard Iron Man II has. Have I missed something?
This is 5 years ago but still did not show what's inside? Looks like just a variable ac source to two rectified diodes. One side to a nail and on the center of the part. Which ever led lights up first couples to the center showing the shield or the negative side. Am I correct?
For all those who think they would build an all tube amp and have a SS reverb or a digital LMAO one ONBOARD SPRING REVERB. The unmistakable drip of spring reverb has helped define the tone of many vintage, American-voiced combo amps. And we have gone into painstaking detail to re-create those same thick, splashing, dripping tones in our own tube-driven circuit, perfectly capturing the sound and character of the originals.

Hi mark just bought the mkii. Wow. Super impressed in so many ways. Ive always loved the tones of that dumble deluxe reverb on YT. I get close to that on your monster with that midbite pumped! Was it inspired a little by that dumble sound when you built in the 90s?

What a great idea to set the attenuator bypass to the rhythm channel only! Effective. I plan to buy one in a week or two when I can get down to Chicago.
Carr Skylark annihilates this amp for a small, all tube, attenuated, Fender voiced 1x12 combo.
If you are basing your opinion on the audio quality of this video, and not on real-life experience playing both for hours using different settings and volumes, then you really don’t have a valid basis to say anything. I played Carr’s amps before settling on an Imperial Mk II and a Sky King, and the ToneKing amps run circles around the Carr designs I found. You might have a specific sound you heard in the Carr you liked but ToneKing can hit it too. And at full volume on the lead channel the Imperial and Sky King don’t take back seats to any other amps.
Effects loop would be nice for delay......
