Thanks, will do!
Do you have a video breaking down your equipment? The two I’ve seen look like you’re playing a Tele of some sort and a Reverend of some variety. I’m curious about pickups and amps, though. Are you willing to share?
Coming soon!
Which guitar is this ?
Thank you so much for your videos, learning a ton. Loving the simple play along idea
God bless you for doing this
Thank you!
The best tutorials...Demystifying a lot of concepts. Many thanks!!
Glad you like them!
Thank you and God bless you!
Same to you!
Excellent video…learning so much from your channel..thanks so much for your lessons
My pleasure!
I've learned a ton from your content! I play lead/rhythm in a worship group and I see myself as kind of the "fill-out guy" in that I seek to fill in gaps and make the song fuller and more interesting. Your lessons go a long way toward that! I've gone from being a, "guitar player" to a musician who happens to play guitar.
That’s so great to hear! I’m glad it’s helped!
He's back 🎉!!!
thank cj,always excited here for your videos.thanks and God bless

What is that mean....i ii iii iv v
Those are the Roman numerals for each of the positions in the key.
I’m a late starting guitarist & like others notice the don’t give up message. I’ve been at it for about 4 years and have had minimal music theory, but you just helped explain why it is important. I’ve used Chordify since I typically play alone but noticed the chords are typically different from how the actual musicians play. It seems focused primarily for acoustic guitar although strumming and or tabs are absent. I have often wondered how do you know which position to start. I learned a lot today. The tips about finger pressure was excellent. Also, thanks for the chord charts, keys and graphics ,voicings, and capo usage. I think too many tutorials end up being someone rushing through too quickly while also showcasing their skills. Your style is excellent.
So glad it was helpful!
Great effort making this video 👍🏻 Yet, those alternate chords voicing turn to chord add-ons when you go to IV, V, vi. It is great when you’re on your own, but when you are a part of a band they can really spoil it all, I’ve heard it on many occasions. Even big time guys are guilty of bringing in some disharmony by those “alternate voicing”. One should really know what they are doing when using that kinda stuff and learn some basic harmony first. I agree, it does sound like something fresh, but most often plain chords are preferable.
I agree, there are many times using these extensions do not support the melody and are not the appropriate chord. But, usually the chord chart indicates when to and when not to use them. And a discussion about melody support/harmony is vital but another layer of consideration for another video. This video exists more to expose new and struggling guitarists to these chords as possible options that can be easily integrated into their chord base. Thanks for feedback!
Funny story. I wasnt getting it. These chords sounded horrible, I mean BAAAD. I had the video speed set to 1.5X .Put on Normal and now I'm on board, LOLOLOL
Haha! Good Catch!
I just stumbled onto your website Re really good stuff you're a very good teacher glad I found you
Thank you!
I always strive for that Hillsong united sound, you've given me so many great options now with this video sir, i wanna learn and nail all of them! 😁 Thank you, much appreciated from South Africa! ❤🇿🇦💯✅👌
I hope it continues to help!
What model of reverend is that?
Great videos. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Subscribed. You have some great content. Where would you play the 5 chord? Just move up 2 frets from the 4 and play the typical triad?
If you’re referring to those triad shapes I briefly mentioned in the video, we wouldn’t move that particular voicing up one whole step. You could just play whichever V chord triad is closest. But each key will allow us different ways to access the V chord. Hope that helps.
In the scenario where you have a 2 chord, do you keep playing the 1 and 5?
Good question. There are a few ways to play the ii chord. The ii chord is just one whole step from your I-chord position So you could just move your whole shape up one whole step to play the two. That’s just one way to do it.
I love the channel and love the teaching of the chords. My only recommendation is to speak less and show more. Overall, I love your teachings.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll think you’ll find future videos headed this direction.
I see what you’re doing here, and it’s genius! God bless you!
So glad it was helpful!
I love tricks like this that can take my mind out of music mode and into worship mode! Thank you so much!
You’re very welcome!
Thanks ❤❤❤
You're welcome 😊
Thank you for a lesson.
My pleasure!
Very blessed with this video! Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing this. I've just subscribed. 😂
Welcome!
Thanks for subbing!
God bless best teacher in the world thanks
Thank you!
This is great stuff! Super helpful, but I'm wondering does this still work when the chord progression deviates from the 1, 4, 5, 6? For example, I pulled up my recent worship set, grabbed my guitar and turned on "I Trust in God" by Elevation, and they're throwing in the 2 chord. I skipped to the next song on the list "Holy Spirit" by Bryan and Katie Torwalt, and it's a 1, 2, 4 progression. So again, this technique is great and I definitely see the value for the 90-95% that you mentioned. But does this only work in that 90-95% of the time?
Great Q! The ii chord is def the next most-used chord used outside of the big 4. In the original edit of this video I covered the ii chord in the 3rd song. But it got cut. There are a few ways you could play the ii chord in each position that would only be a slight shift for each position. Just remember the ii chord is one whole step above your I-chord. So you slide the I-position up one whole step whenever you see the ii-chord. This is one of a few ways to do it. Hope that helps!
@@DontGiveUp-qn8he Thanks for the response! Just so I understand, in your video you’re playing the 1 and the 5 except for on the 5 chord where you move the 1 a half step down. But for the 2 chord I would play the 2 and the 5?
For the ii chord, I would move the whole shape higher - both notes up one whole step. Then you’d be playing the 1st and 5th note of your ii chord.
@@DontGiveUp-qn8he Got it. Thanks again for taking the time to reply! Super helpful 🤟🏻
This is awesome. I dabbled on the guitar for years with no purpose but started playing bass with my small church and then guitar opened up. I'm the only guitarist and I'm playing electric. I hear these chords and i see them on sheet music, but I didn't know how to move through them. This is a God send.
That's great to hear!
Great Stuff, enjoying your videos. God Bless
Thanks!
