In this video I am pulling in the last of the honey that is still on the hives.

Swarm Trap Catch 4-12-2024

Will they move in this box or go somewhere else? Sometimes it amazes me how many steps a swarm may go through before they decide where they want to live. 22:05 Boris, the maker of your hive lifter, made his fume boards with black sheet metal vs. coroplast (which is actually an insulator). On an overcast day, he can warm the sheet metal with his propane torch to help gass off the fume material.
That seems like the way to go.
I have no issue with plastic excluders other than what you pointed out. The metal excluders make my harvest far easier.
I agree. I think its time for me to invest in some metal ones.
What bee go spray are you using ? What brand is what I mean? And does it come in that spray bottle or did you pour it in a spray bottle
Great video BTW
I use Honeybee Gone. I get mine from Hillco. Yes you can get it in a spray bottle.www.hillco.buzz/products/honey-b-gone-honey-removal-aid?_pos=2&_sid=1ef688974&_ss=r
Them bees can sure throw you some curveballs. Keep us updated whether you have two queens in that last hive. Your swarm's medium supers looked like they might average 20 lbs of honey which is more honey for Joey. Last year you were scratching for honey with that late spring frost. Payback is sweet. LOL
Yes they can. I've had three queens get above the excluders this year. What's odd is any time I add an excluder I know where she is at the time. I have found two queens in the same hive before, but it has been a while. I will be checking it soon.
What material do you use for your outer cover?
I purchased them. The first two are made with a high grade plywood similar to HDO and is cooked in wax. The third one is HDO and came from Bob Binnie.
Joey my splits and swarms produced more than my older hives this year. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah my splits and swarms seemed to draw out more comb than the older hives this year.
97 lbs at $10 a lb is $970. That is a good day of work Joey. Wonder if you really needed to wear a jacket. Maybe just a veil would have sufficed?? Have a good one Joey.
I think I could have worked them that day without a vail at all. They were busy and didn't pay much attention to me.
What product do you use on your fume board?
Honey Bee Gone
@@josephrawls does this work fairly fast? I used Fishers B Quick last week and it seemed to take forever. It was a ot day and we had to use a cordless leaf blower to get all the bees out. I will have to pick up your stuff before next spring. Stay cool. I'll try to catch up with you at the Expo.
The heat is no joke! Stay hydrated! Thanks Joey!
That is for sure.
Enjoyed the video. Try to beat the heat. Like the lifter. Take care.
Thank you.
My tallow pull was disappointing considering the strong spring, located in Abita Springs
Yep. The flow had just started when a weeks worth of rains and wind storms came.
Hey, are you going to NAHBE next year?
I plan to.
Thank you for the video,
Thanks for watching.
I hope you weren't out there too long. The heat has been brutal down here in the boot.
It wasn't too long. I have to catch a few at a time.
@josephrawls it's one more thing to haul, but I've seen some battery-operated jobsite fans. I am Thinking about getting one.
You have such a nice honey house Joey.😁Some day, step by step. You have a lot of NOISY bugs Joey, Blessed Days buddy...
Thank you. I only wish I built it on a concrete slab.

Your beautiful wife is a great help. I do mine by myself. Boring. LOL
She is, but she only helps a couple times a year.
Cajun honey from them Louisiana bees
If they fly south it could be cajun, if they go north it could be red neck honey. lol
Show us your toolbox next.
I will have to do something on it.
Fantastic. Really like it. I would like to see more yard info
I will try. Other than taking honey off I don't do much hive inspections this time of year.
i used my new Hillco extractor today. What a sweet running machine an cleanup will be a dream. I have 20 medium supers to go. Is this a Hillco uncapping tank next to your uncapper? Plan to pick one up at the show in Louisville next January. Hope to run into you again. Hope you all have a great season.
Hillco makes a great product. Yes that is a Hillco uncapping tank. I got it last year at Hive Life. The one Hillco builds now has a beveled bottom and should be even better.
👍
Thank you.
Looking good Joey
Thank you.
Hey Joey I forget what do you use the Coke Frig for? I wondered about maybe getting a use commercial freezer to store frames in. Thanks for sharing, Blessed Days you two.
Hey Joey. I have been considering getting a refrigerator like your Coca Cola. Did you buy I from a supplier or individual?
I am using it for my newest honey warmer. A commercial freezer should be great for the job. That is what the chest freezer in my shed is used for at times. Thanks
It came from a store. It went out and the company didn't what to fool with repairing it.
What kind and size extractor do you have?
Ditto Edit: Found it! It's the sideliner uncapper sold by Mann Lake. Edit 2: Could have sworn this question was about the uncapper. I too own an UltraMax.
It is the 18 frame extractor. It will hold 9 deep or 18 mediums. It will also hold 9 deep and 9 mediums at the same time. www.hillco.buzz/products/ultramax-honey-extractor-18-frame-radial
Pretty honey Joey. Congrats on a good harvest and on having the job done.
