I'm a bit late to the party here but in my defence I only went out on my 1250RS for the first time yesterday. The roads were very wet and muddy for most of the ride but I enjoyed the ride non the less and I'm looking forward to the better weather. The elephant in the room though is the screen, coming off a R1250GS it's terrible. Do you get any wind getting past your visor if it's partly open with that screen? I suffer from dry eye and yesterday my eyes were watering quite badly no matter which position the original screen was in so I need a screen that will allow me to have my visor at least partly open and be in still air so my eyes don't water and my glasses don't steam up. I don't use a pinlock as I having a visor, pinlock and glasses to look through doesn't work for me. TIA @@borntoride744

Hi there - I tend to wear wrap around sunglasses and quite enjoy the fresh air and wind coming through the visor so i'm afraid i'm not much help. I also haven't ridden a GS so can't really compare but I would say though that when this screen is raised in the upper position it does a brilliant job. It's also far better than the standard screen so perhaps might be worth trying it out. Wish I could be more helpful!

I have a 17 and re located the GPS above the instruments. Very easy to do with the bracket, so much better. Check out Moto mate.

I have been riding since I was 17, I have had many bikes mainly Kawasaki and Ducati, I am now 65, I have a 2016 R1200RS, it is by far the best all round bike I have ever ridden, simply first class riding machine.

Could you create a video on how to update the satnav? I bought a similar bike 2016, but I can't find any video about updating the satnav. thanks

Hi Mark - the satnav needs to be updated via your pc or laptop. You need to connect it to your pc via a usb cable and then log into the Garmin website - you'll be able to update the firmware , download and update maps and then replace on your bike cradle. I hope this helps...

As for the RS it really has been a fantastic bike it just does everything really well whether you're cruising along enjoying the view or winding it round the twisties! It's probably got a similar seating position as the Triumph so if I were you I would take it out first for a test ride. However saying that I find it extremely comfortable!! Good luck with your decision. Bring on the summer!!

Hi there The one I'm using at the moment is the Givi XS307 tanklock bag which is 15 litres. They have quite a wide range of bags but the XS307 seems fine for all my valuables, camera, drone etc and detaches really easily so I can carry it with me if I leave the bike for a while. Have a look on the Givi site for the full range - good luck with the bike - you're gonna love it!

@@borntoride744 Thanks for the response, I've bought the bike now but it's still in dealers till after holidays, can't wait to get my hands on it and learn what all the buttons do! It seems that tanklock bag is the only way to go, I'll check out the Givi range. Thanks again and a happy new year touring.

Hi Yes the screen is a Puig touring screen which is really excellent quality. I swapped the original as soon as I bought the bike - really easy to fit and deflects the wind as it should.
