    In my culture, being well groomed, especially when in public, was a sign of respect for others and self-respect, as well. South and Central Americans also eat a lot of beans, which produce thicker hair, thus thicker eyebrows. Portuguese women don't bother with much makeup, or complicated hairstyles, and they don't shave. Their eyebrows are pretty thick--and it's obvious, when in Portugal, how less self-absorbed and more authentic the Portuguese women are in contrast to American women who spend hours pouring on self-enhancements, (the latest being the ridiculously huge and dollish looking eyelashes) Someone who doesn't give a hoot about how they look when they roll out of bed, will be perceived to be less focused, less detailed, and frankly, less invested in a project than someone who takes the trouble to look and smell decent. I think the term that commonly described this phenomena of high sense of one's own worth was called "civilization." I would think that the woman who spends hours plucking, shaping and coloring her eyebrows would be the. more narcissistic. Thicker eyebrows in my culture were always seen as more authentic.

    We now know (2024) that 7 to 10% of the population is a pschopath. They have certain parts of the brain that hardly function. Mainly in the frontal area (and amygdala, etc.) Could it be that that zone has a slightly different temperature? And encourages the growth of hair in that zone? A psychopathic grandiose narc was Ted Bundy, you can look at his pictures. But be ware sometimes he plukled them. I personaly have a very low body temperature. 34 Celsius degrees in normal time. And I am constantly thirsty. No doctor has found why. So, I just drink water all day...

    And? What does it show that some extremely simplified and potentially biased model of life behaves in a certain way? Why would you even consider "talent" and "luck" to be disjoint parameters? This seems to be the reflection of some biased conception of the world. What is success, the money in your bank account or the inverse of your cortisol levels? edit: And about the last "philosophical" point about taxation, this is a very poor justification. If someone found that "talent and success are highly correlated" (whatever that means), how would that justify an unequal system? Sorry but this is all the result of rotten assumption even if the conclusion looks "good-hearted".

  • @yvonnemariane2265
    @yvonnemariane2265 Před 5 měsíci

    Such a good study for zeroing in on the brows, but it fails with the 3 sole questions: Groomed -- Distinctive -- Feminine. Obviously they will be distinctive from others, that's the whole point to begin with lol. Groomed is not very interesting as it would just be similar to 'well-dressed' but also maybe reflects something physical (thickness eg, more innervated, hormones?), feminine has complexity to unpack in terms of interpretation/implications, especially as regards to women vs men. Meanwhile I truly think it is all related to muscular control of said eyebrows LOL! TRUTH! Keeping the brows "up" and enchantingly animated and differentiated lol they can foster a sense of confidence and can often easily impress others (we understandably interpret confidence as reflecting something positive in that person, weird).

    The model seems to adhere to basic principles of probability and statistics. In a Gaussian distribution, the majority of the population falls within the 'average' talent range. When you introduce random "luck events" into this setup, it's logical that most individuals who end up benefitting will be those in the 'average' talent category, simply because that's where the majority of the population resides.

      Yes, that is an important fact which is impressed upon geology students. There are many types of rock (and minerals particularly) that should not be licked due to there toxic properties. I like to think of this as the Darwin Principle at play among geology students ;-) Although I have also licked thousands of different rocks in the field and I have never heard of a geologist dying as a result of licking rocks. What is really fascinating is how different, different rocks taste when you lick them ;-)
