    I've just done mine with an Lcd screen kit and T bar iron. As I've worked in electronics for over 40 years this seemed like it ought to have been pretty easy and straight forward repair. But despite cleaning the pcb absolutely spotless and preping the contacts again with IPA before attaching the cable the clock had missing pixels when I put it back in the car 😡😡which is worse than I started with. As mine worked ok when you first turned it on but as the car warmed up all the pixels started to disappear. After checking it (my work) under magnification there's nothing wrong with what I did so it's likely that the LCD wasn't bonded properly at the factory. The trouble is it's chinese rubbish, and I've had it too long before fitting it to get my money back. Plus the fact you'll destroy the ribbon when you remove it the seller will then claim it was my fault . Lucky I saved the old LCD so I've just ordered another cable and I'll refit that which is a bit of a pita as the display was £20-30 and a cable is £5. So I spent more so that so I didn't need to bond the cable to the glass. Making it easier and less potential for failure as you're only reworking one end. I did my climate control with similar kit years ago and its still perfect What Might do before remove the new faulty lcd is power it up on the bench and try to apply pressue to see where it's actually failed. And also inspect the cable incase any of the tracks a broken. But on the whole I wish I'd had just bought the cheap cable in the 1st place rather than a new LCD thats doesn't work correctly. Pure laziness on my part. I basically trust my work so had I do both ends it would have worked.

    Hi how you doing just wanted to thank you for your video it was very helpful. I wanted to ask you a question I have a Saturn Vue 2006 and I brought my car in to get a new clutch replaced the whole thing and the place did not ask me if I needed a new linkage cable and I did in fact need it. I wind up having to go back twice because my first gear was messed up and he just kept telling me well it was always like that and I just didn't understand why he did not offer me the linkage cable and by the second time I thought he was going to fix the linkage cable and I would have paid for it I thought we were on the same page I just want to know aren't you supposed to offer this when you get it fixed when you get a full clutch repair? I'd appreciate it if you could let me know what you think? Thank you very much.

Any fine crevices that might not get clean with that could be got with a small wire brush on a Dremel. I clean rusty tools all the time with that method. It is nice to see different things the Ultrasonic cleaners can do even if it isn't the best way to do the job. Thanks for the video.

    There’s a guy who designed a “ kit “ for this fix. I think he does some CZcams videos under the name Dre Dan??? He has a link to the PVC fix kit in the description on one of his videos. My “ issue “ is that I live in Canada so getting some stuff from the USA is harder. It’s puzzling to me that GM has an engine produced from around 2011-2019 that has such a common issue and no one has sued them or they haven’t provided a fix under a “ Bulletin “ to fix this. Then there’s the almost 100% of vehicles problems with the oil feed line to the turbo gumming up because of the heat from the exhaust manifold which results in turbo failure. At least that one is a relatively easy fix. The other pretty much 100% problem is the leaking from the coolant line to turbo that has a partial rubber section that leaks after a few years. All these issues could have been fixed by GM between 20011-2019 with very little effort.

    • @jungleking007Channel
      @jungleking007Channel Před 4 měsíci

      Yep Andrei runs the Dre Dan channel. He's been very active in the Cruze community coming up with a variety of repairs, modifications, and tools to maintain these vehicles. I believe there are multiple bulletins out there addressing the issues, but no recalls since GM provided a fix of thier own. Unfortunately this "fix" is to throw parts at the car and hope it sticks long enough for the customer to trade in. Sad really, nice cars but they aren't built to last anymore

    I heard a crazy solution to these engines from a turkish guy: replacing the thermostat with a lower temperature one. This engine is working in much higher temp. than usual cars therefore comes up most of the problems..what do you think about this solution?

    • @jungleking007Channel
      @jungleking007Channel Před 5 měsíci

      Normally running an engine at a warmer temperature helps with fuel efficiency. that is why these sit around 200f and the ECU is typically programed around these stock parameters. Running a cooler Thermostat might have negligible results if only a few degrees difference, but swinging 10+ degrees might yield a reduction in engine performance. I haven't been one to experiment too much with my car at the moment since its my only Daily.
