calling ulysses elitist is probably the dumbest thing to say about the book. it is the most lazy analysis to make, saying that "regular people" will not have the necessary level of intellect to understand the book, the language, the style, even the references (which are pretty much searchable in the internet) is pure prejudice. pretentious? yes, and that's part of what makes Ulysses interesting.

I only grew more fond of it, upon reading it as an adult. I wager these "critics" hate it so much because it struck a nerve. I'm sure they would have rated the novel highly if instead of protecting Pheobe, Holden was taking her to Drag shows and Gender Studies lectures at the local University.

Regarding the vapid c*nts in the vid, there are no "cis" men. There is the male part of the human reproductive equation, and "men" covers that. The qualifiers are reserved for those whose lifestyle strays from that dynamic. In other words, there is no "cis men" and "gay men." There are only "men" and "gay men." No heterosexual man has ever needed a qualifier. They simply consider themselves men. It's everyone else who needs to be "gay," "bi," "pan," etc. thrown in front of "man." That's if you even believe there are such things as bisexuals. Hang around for long enough, you realize that bi men are just gay men who end up with some strange vag on occasion, and bi women are just lesbians who need a dick down on occasion.
