How to Paint Stormcast Hallowed Knights | Age of Sigmar
In today’s video I will be painting two Storm Cast Eternals in the Hallowed Knight color scheme in some easy to follow steps. One of them to a reasonably good battle ready standard and the other to a parade ready one with some cool extra effects thrown in.
So if you want to see how I chose and painted all the base coats, did all the shading with contrast paints instead of traditional washes, then went in with some simple highlights on the battle ready model and some extra steps on the parade ready one, finally adding some cool but easy to do effects, like glowing eyes and the green swampy base reflected on the armor then let’s get painting.

In today’s video I’ll be painting two Space Wolves Terminators to a fairly high standard in some easy to follow steps, but in a way that you guys can easily skip some steps if you want to have a quicker, but somewhat less pretty result. So if you want to see how I painted two different versions of the iconic blue grey armor, one with Citadel paints and one with Kimera Kolors, the super colorful...

Abaddon was one of my first purchases back when I first started painting. He is one of the best character models Games Workshop has ever done in my opinion and one of my favorite characters in the lore, so I just had to have him. But after building and priming him, I felt that I was just not good enough of a painter at the time to do him justice. So he was just sitting there on the shelf, until...

In today’s video I’ll show you guys how you can paint a parade ready Emperor’s Children chaos space marine, using only a brush and only Citadel paints in some easy to follow steps. Emperor’s Children are probably the only Space Marine chapter who can rock pink armor and still scare the bejesus out of even other chaos space marines. To be honest I had not been a big fan of them before, but, afte...

But if you don’t like the Mongol biker gang in Warhammer, you should still watch this, to learn how to paint a nice smooth shaded white on your minis. So, if you want to see how I painted the white armor of this Space Marine Captain with Jump pack, the red trim and the various ornamen...

In today’s video I’ll be painting a Krootox Rampager to a display quality level, but believe it or not, I’ll be using true metallic metals for this one. great scheme, really like it - nice work!
Great video! You’re the first person I’ve seen use gold on the collar trim (how I do it). Would be great to see your take on Astral Templars, since I’m painting Yndrasta’s spearhead force in that scheme at the moment. 😁
Nice! That color scheme looks quite fun to paint.I might give it a shot in one of the future videos :)
Hey guys! Do you have any other Stormcast color schemes that you would like to see me paint on the channel?
I also find a deep red or a red/brown colour works well as a shade for most armour colour and adds great definition, even straight up on a lighter mid-tone base. Wonderful stuff 👍
Fantastic work. Honestly I think Abaddon is the hardest model to paint in the whole GW hobby as his scult has so much fine detail. So no need to be hard on yourself. Great job
Very nice 👍
I'm obviously not a professional but it seems way easier to spray it white, black wash, highlight. Then to do it this way painting the entire model multiple times. I'm already a slow painter so no disrespect I wouldn't do it this way.
:D Sure, this is not meant for painting your troops. It is more for something fancier, like a special character. There are definitely easier ways to do it, but some people, like me, just like the more difficult fancier approach :)
i got some printed contekar and this really helped man
Nerd emoji alert: it is well painted but using the website mini is a mistake cause he's one of few "albino" Morats in lore. hard to find infinity lore but he's got concept art with the pink-white tone
Absolutely stunnig work, love this take on the spacewolfs armour colour. I must be rhe only one that is still not sold on nmm though 😅
Thanks 😊 I know NMM is a bit divisive, but I enjoy painting it way more than true mettalics and I like how it looks more as well 😅 That being said, the next video, coming this Friday, will be only with true metallics.
Quality nippers.
Good work bro
It looks so good
For the Khan ❤ 💛 my favorite chapter by far! Gladly subbed
whats the benefit of this over getting a white coat and then goin from there? :o
Try it out. It doesn’t look right
@@brianfarris5676it does after you slap apothecary white contrast over it & work from there!
How long did this take you to do?
Unfortunately, I dont remember exactly, I have painted quite a few models since then, but I would say it was somewhere between 8-12 hours or so.
I love my blueberry bois but White Scars seem so damn fun to paint. Excellent work
They aren’t. White is one of the biggest pains to paint.
Nice fallout power armor
40k is much older than fallout, but nice try
I like the space wolves but not when they wear stupid wolf helmets and not when Russ is called the Lord of winter and war. AVE DOMINUS NOX
Amazing job, got yourself a sub
Welcome aboard! :)
this looks so good! im def using this for my army now, ive been looking for a good paint for sw for awhile! ty
Could you do a nightlord one at some point, im painting them and would love to know a good method, an amazing model as well!
Actually, I already have one for Night Lords in a similar style :) You can find it here: czcams.com/video/wviMmHj6exc/video.htmlsi=WW6k_VrFr3jDJ7c7
It looks amazing. This was a very helpful tutorial. Thanks for sharing!!
Wrong colours lightbluegrey with yellow shoulder not orange
Thanks, Chief. I'll make sure to keep that in mind next time 🫡
Amazing video I just dropped you a sub I’m getting back in to filming painting videos this has definitely helped me and gave me some inspiration
Really nice work. Love the speed of this video as well
Absolutely fantastic work. Well done.
Really cool. 🖌
I think this is the first time I've ever seen the vents on a Terminator's back painted glowing red hot and the effect looks amazing. Not sure if I would want it for my whole army but this is quite interesting indeed.
Really really beautiful work
Would love to see your take on nightlords, maybe when the kill team comes out or on some heresy terminators
Actually, there is a pretty cool Nightlord terminator painting video on the channel already. 😎 Although I am definitely doing another one with some of the newer Nightlords models as well at some point. Ave Domino's Nox! :)
@@ph3lansminiatures FOR NOSTROMO (thx😅)
Jesus, you have come a long way. Been here since the beginning of your channel and I am just flattened about your progress as a painter. Although I don‘t like the airbrush I have to say both models look absolutly beautiful. Not to mention the fact that I have a squad of Terminators at waiting to be painted…😉
Thank you. It is hard to see your own progress sometimes. So it is great to hear that people like you who have been looking at it from the start can see the improvement :) Out of curiosity, why do you dislike the airbrush?
@@ph3lansminiatures I might get heat for that, but it feels a bit like "taking the easy route". I struggle a lot with blending and light placement on my models and seeing those quick airbrush results is disheartening sometimes.😅 On top of that an airbrush setup takes up a lot of space and additional money that could be invested into more brushes, colours or even new models. In my case, it wouldn't fit my painting space. To sum it up, sometimes I just don't like the "clean" look of some airbrush paintjobs. Not yours of course, because you manage to get an end result that looks really "complete".
@@robertrichter7389 You won't get any heat from me at least, those are perfectly fine reasons :) An airbrush requires quite a bit of investment in time, money, and space and not every one will dig the look it creates. The only thing I don't agree with is the "easy route" one, although I fully get where you are coming from. The airbrush is a pretty difficult, but really fun, tool to learn but once you know what you are doing it can do some things faster and easier than the brush, but using it creates its own problems. You need to deal with overspray, it destroys the recess shading, it desaturates the colors etc. So you basically trade one set of problems for another :D For me the airbrush and the brush are complementary tools, you use them for their strengths and compensate for their weaknesses. Using them both makes me a better and more versatile painter overall (or so I hope). But not using it is perfectly fine as well, you can put more time and effort into your brushwork :)
@@ph3lansminiatures I've also been here since close to the beginning and there's no other mini painting channel that makes me go OH HECK YEAH when there's a new upload like this one. Thank you for all of the time and effort you put into helping the rest of us learn how to paint, and I look forward to seeing how much you grow from here!
@somnielle Thank you, that's incredibly high praise 😊 I'll try to live up to the expectations with the future uploads as well!
So good.
Damn these are cool! Would like you to do alpha legion of like custodes next!
Are they really oil paints if you can mix them with water? Did you paint over the gloss varnish at all?
Yep, they most certainly are oil paints and behave like they are supposed to as well as you can see in the video :) I covered the gloss with matte varnish where I applied the transfers, except on the shoulder pad, where it makes the colors pop more. On the rest of the model, the oil wash knocked back the glossiness enough so that I conveniently didn't need to do anything.
Beautiful 👍👍
I can’t be the only one thinking it’s ironic using “Iron Hands Steel” on an emperor is children model 😂
Now that you mention it, it is kinda funny 😅
Very Nice!
I prefer the darker "Heresy" scheme for the Sons of Russ... as usual beautiful work.
Thanks 😊
Your white armor recipe is the best! Can you change it to Citatel Paint and let me know??
Hey All! Which Warhammer faction do you want me to paint next?
as a black templar enjoyer-more black templar. but I know you did a video on one a while ago. lovely work.
Let's try white... White Consuls Captain Messinius... love the character
Amazing work on the Space Wolves Terminators! I'd be interested in seeing your skills applied to painting an Imperial Knight.
@MrGunpocket I have an emperor's champion model that I want to paint in the near future 😉
@robertwilder4953 wow, that model and scheme look great. Somehow, I have missed this model, but I guess I'll have to pick it up next time I go to the local shop 😅
That was an awesome watch and I'm a better painter for it
You can guarantee when they release the emperors children models I’ll be making a full army no questions asled
Thanks. You probably helped me avoid wasting money on one. I just paint a few minis for myself and for a few other people. I really don't need one, and I hadn't even considered the noise. I really appreciate this video.
Is the model made of metal?
It is indeed metal, and it is satisfyingly heavy. 😂
@@ph3lansminiatures thank you very much) now I’ll buy it 🙂↕️
Great video thanks for the list! What light do you use? The one in the video looks great, nice and bright.
Sure, it is a Neatfli led lamp. It is pretty close to daylight ( 5500k) and works great :)
@@ph3lansminiatures Thanks very much!
Your Cursed City minis have a more grimdark feel than the official GW painting guide on YT, love them! I have a question, could we replace the oil paint step with a wash like Army Painter Quickshade Softtone?
Technically, you could use a wash, but the end result would look quite different. It would darken the recesses just like the oils, but it would also stain and darken everything else, which is the biggest downside of acrylic washes. Since I made this video, I have started to use water mixable oils from winsor and Newton. Those are easier to use than the normal oils if you are looking for an alternative :)
@@ph3lansminiatures thanks for the tip!
@@ph3lansminiatures thanks for the tip! can the W&N paints be removed with a sponge as well?
Not a fan of Abbadon personally but awesome paint job.
You did such a great job with this one! Love the pool of blood effect! Nice job on the colors and textures.
I LOVE the look of this model and want to try it out. It looks so well done and the thoroughness of the video gives me the confidence to give it a try.
