Amazing techniques, Simon. Harmonics and swift pitch bendings reminded me of tabla. Very tight fills and tone variations to create a "question - response" phrases. Maybe you could make a video about how to glue a new skin on a clay dohola? Literally no one on CZcams has yet covered this important topic. This is the only thing that holds me back from this magnificent instrument. There are so many cool fish/animal skins that one might install on a drum, but those ropes and sawn fabric look too menacing.. People say "it is just glued", but it probably really not "just" that. How to prepare the skin before installation, how to setup ropes for perfect tension distribution, or which glue to use? .. I have asked these questions on several youtube channels, yet it seems like a closely guarded secret or something 😅

Very interesting! But really the Oud is made only for single note melodies, maybe also arpeggios. Not only the barree - chords do not sound good. I like very much guitar and oud playing together.

I was introduced to Liz's work just a couple of nights ago, courtesy of BBC Radio 3's radio programme: 'Night Tracks'. I was very interested to hear that the track (and the album from which this is derived) is based upon Meersbrook, a residential area in Sheffield. Meersbrook is an area of the city where I was born and lived around until I married in 1976. A lovely tune and very well-played. I'm now looking to buying the whole album.
