Inspirational 150 Acre Regenerative Farm in the Scottish Highlands
This video features the incredible work happening Lynbreck Croft, run by Lynn Cassells and Sandra Baer. They are transforming what was a rather degraded landscape into a landscape rich in wildlife, thriving soil, and of course highly-nutritious food for themselves and their community. The croft is located in the Cairngorms National Park in Scotland; a sub-artic wilderness. The key elements of the croft includes rotational grazing, pasture eggs, tree planting, horticulture, wood fuel, pigs, and beekeeping.

zhlédnutí 519KPřed 2 lety
Following on from the Agroforestry video we made @TapoNothFarm, we now look more deeply into their whole farm design, way of life, thoughts on regenerative agriculture, and their beautiful homestead. From keeping goats for making cheese and using the manure for the market garden, to using chickens as forest birds to help with managing and developing forest gardens, Tap o' Noth Farm have created...
The Incredible Benefits of Agroforestry on Small Farms | Introduction to Agroforestry

In this video, we visit James from@TapoNothFarm in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Tap o' Noth is an incredible 8-acre agroforestry permaculture small farm that integrates crops and animals alongside perennial planting. By using inspiration from how this land would be if left fully to Nature, James and his partner Rosa are using that to their advantage to create a place that not only produces food and...
Regenerative Farm Combines Ducks and Blueberries | Parc Carreg Duck Eggs, Wales
zhlédnutí 1,8MPřed 2 lety
In this video, we visit Josh and Abi Heyneke from Parc Carreg Organic Duck Eggs in Wales, UK. Parc Carreg is a regenerative farm that focuses on so much more than just duck eggs, and his approach to producing sustainable food from the land is such an inspiration. We hear all about why ducks are more suitable than chickens in wet areas, the role their small flock of sheep play in managing the bo...
Inspiring Small-Scale Market Garden's Approach to Connecting People with Food | Permaculture Ethics

In summer 2020 we visited Glasbren market garden. It is located a few miles east of Carmarthen, Wales, and produces 50 veg boxes a week for its local community and has a hugely inspiring vision for the future. Here is a film that highlights their ethos in terms of the importance of connecting with nature and how regenerating our soils can regenerate our local communities. Their refreshing outlo...
Self-Sufficient Grower Feeds 20 Families on Only 0.5 Acres | Regenerative Films

Liz Zorab has an incredible permaculture setup on a micro-smallholding, with the vegetable garden and food forest being a total of 0.5 acres! Liz produces 85% of her family's annual food needs, and on top of that runs a micro-CSA Veg Box scheme that feeds 20 local families. This is the perfect example of what can be done in a small space. Huge thank you to Liz Zorab: czcams.com/users/LizZorab F...
What a wonderful and refreshing approach to land use. Especially when one reads of farms being taken out of food production and given over to nature. Of course we need to acknolwledge the natural world, indeed we must recognised that we are part ot it and farm accordingly; but farms are for feeding people. To do otherwise is, I believe, social and cultural vadnalism. I wish you every success
Ah no
Watched the breakdown of a recent study on methane production in the 'field' using drones, turns out the cows on grass released a lot less methane then anticipated, so much less so (soil bacteria were not taken into account, nor the reactiveness of methane, and probably other as yet unthought of factors) that they did not want to release their numbers, they actually redid the study repeatedly and did not see the amount of methane as expected via lab experiments, etc., turns out that ungulates (from bison to cows to elephants, etc.) having evolved in the ecosystem are part of the ecosystem, and grass raised and finished beef do no release 30%, nor 20% of the expected amount of methane into the atmosphere, funny that. Pushing their numbers, and rounding up a lot, and arguing that they MUST be missing a large amount...I don't think so...but hey, turns out your average wetland is producing more methane then our cow herds. AND that is NOT taking into account the sequestering of CO2 via soil build up, nor cutting down on petroleum fertilizers, etc. Turns out cows are a net positive for the actual environment, but a negative for Big Ag, Big Oil, Big Food (yeah, I'm not shocked either, guess who is pushing net zero, Big Corporations, again, not shocked, just follow the money).
I loved watching this. I have a similar property in a different continent. I think 2 things must happen. MUST. 1. Get representative bodies campaigning for the virtues of regenerative farming to government and public opinion. And for God's sake, dont vilify the industrial farming sector in order to do that. We have enough enemies 2. Promote the concept that we are there in order to promote abundance in nature. Not to live in isolation from it.
Excellent operation, but how do you afford ten acres if you are not dual income Londoners. Most of us can barely afford a 30 square metre apartment.
Great video,Can we see your home ? How much dose a farm like that cost .? Good luck
would be great to have some taxonomic investigation on that land to prove whether the feeling of having a biodiverse farm is correct or not. i assume it to but there is still a difference of asuming and knowing. ;)
what is strain duck sir ??
A thorough non-sugar coated discussion by the farmer regarding market potential, diversity, and inputs and outputs.
I wonder how he feels about biodiversity
So how do you keep the ducks from just flying off to parts unknown?
The same way you keep outdoor cats. You provide them a place that's more desirable than outside your property. Also, guard animals and fencing.
@@AshlynTeague I thought wing feather clipping might be called for (is that even a thing?) but that is a lot of birds.
I LOVE this. Blueberries are my fav. And ducks are so sweet!
10:15 People who may have developed an allergy to chicken eggs can often eat duck eggs. The commercial duck eggs I bought in Chinese grocery stores have a pale yellow yolk. I imagine slug fed ducks have the more amber yolk color.
You can sell duck eggs to Asian grocery stores

These ducks are living their best lifes
A very intelligent man!
People need to redo the maths on methane production from grass fed sheep cows etc. CO2 absorption from grass, methane breakdown in the atmosphere and carbon sequestration in soils where grazing occurs. It’s madness to blame grazing for climate change when the maths, science is done correctly.
How come the ducks and geese don’t just fly away?
Longest chapter in Quran named ‘the cow’ and there is also a chapter called ‘the bees’. most of what you learnt is in the Quran mentioned there since more than 1400 years.
you do all that work just to not be able to procreate and give it to your children😂 Useless
Bravo to you
how many ducks per acre of pasture
At 25sqft a bird you're looking at 1,742 ducks/acre.
@@AshlynTeague thanks ...but is this for free grazing?. like letting them forege ob rich pasture & pond.
I ready something that may have been completely false. But it stated cattle in itself, purely grass fed, for single household consumption is actual carbon neutral as your grass production is a giant carbon sponge. The world has villianised it because of feed lot farming. But it doesn't have to be that way
Fantastic. Such an informative and enjoyable video to watch. More power to all involved. Quack, quack from America.
I love your generous spirits! May your farm continue to thrive and develop as what you have already put into place points the way to the next steps.....
Beautiful village❤❤❤
Wood fuel. They supply trees for energy stations to burn. Don’t spout about the Earth. You burn trees.
A myopic focus on trees ignores the larger ecology.
With a cool climate such as Scotland, an organic fish production and recreation operation would be an excellent opportunity. It is not just about the rivers.
Eating the same 🧭
Simply Amazing i love it , i just started raising ducks to accomplish the same thing as you but on a smaller scale we only have a couple of Acers. So glad I found your pod cast, we are new subscribers. Looking forward to learning wish i hadn't started so late in life. I am a retired Truck driver
Very nice , Learning from video , Thank you !
Greetings from South Africa, inspirational and thought provoking, wishing you success with your future endeavors. ❤
Good job. I don't think Ducks would work well in harsh environments like we have in Montana. Winters would be very tough on them
exactly, If you wanna save the planet always eat local, seasonal food. Also, dont stop eating regenerativly raised, organic eggs, meat and dairy beacuse they have nutrients plants can't give you.
Give them ducks a pond nd youll have some amazing ducks
Super 🤗
Inspiring
Can u pls share with us how much money u earn from these 8 acers farm annually? I m from Pakistan.
Could this work without animals?
Many thanks, this is very good and informative from both of you. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who would love to learn more. Is your course available online? Is it also available for international students? Thanks again.
It must be nice to own land not that ill ever know
Have u ever considered owning goats Josh?
So much of the UK has been totally cleared, it would be brilliant to rewild the whole of the UK’s degraded land.
How could you not buy that farm! The views are absolutely amazing. These hella cool chicks are absolutely living the dream. Very VERY hard work with wonderful results 😍
If I was in Scotland, I’d leave my life and beg them to let me be a ‘go for’ in exchange for a tiny home spot. I’d pay my rent and build the tiny home, give it to them and then pay rent to tiny house life. I reckon I’ve got 20 years of work left in me. These girls are my new super heroes 🙌♥️
These two chicky babes are hella cool 😎 They’re so inspirational ♥️
How do you keep them safe from all that foxes
