WTG Brad!
Glad to see you racing again! Good luck at Outlaw!
This is such a great video, thanks Brad!
I have to get my camera back in my car now.
You did it! The blue bumper bars look awesome. Hope it all works on the track
Very cool that your son runs dirt. All Quarter Midgets tracks down this way are asphalt. As far as the car, I never had a doubt you and your team would get it back together!
Dumb question from someone out in Illinois, UMP/DirtCar country; Are you not allowed to add bars out and around the core support? Not saying it would have saved the car but we run a bar from the main cage out and around. Not that tha8the best answer either.
@@ClarkBoyzRacing you can replace core support with a bar. Some tracks allow bars through firewall. However in this case if I had bars from main cage up to the front, the car would definitely had been totaled and I probably would have been more hurt because all that energy would have been sent into the cage instead of being soaked up by the front crumple zones.
@@Raceking46 after I typed that out I thought man I sound stupid. Yeah have a crunch zone definitely helped you
You are blessed to have great teammates, friends and family!
Put the springs back in "stock" location?
@@alexbernard8266 strut towers should be in stock location according to measurements we took.
@@Raceking46 I know but you can't tweak it a little bit in your advantage
The fan install kit should have had some "L" shaped pieces that slide into the slots and springs that go between the "L" and the disc.
Glad your ok! He said woodchucks... Thought I was the only one that called em woodchucks...
Sorry to see this happen to you, Bud! But if anyone can fix it, you can! Heal quickly!🙏🙏🙏
Pretty sure it can be fixed just fine. I had a 2001 chevy cavalier that I put in a ditch. Bent subframe and shoved up the whole front end up and to the right 3 inches. Put it on a frame machine and bent it out. The subframe can easily be swapped with one from a donor car, depending on how straight it can be pulled into alignment then you may consider a clip from the front strut towers forward.
Thanks 👍
U got reck from last night on video?
Cool little track. What class is he running?
There's just one 1/4 midget class. Its got a Honda 120 motor on it.
@Raceking46 ok...The track near me, which is asphalt, runs more than 1 class of 1/4 midgets. I think they are decided by age groups.
Track looked rough!
Pretty normal for there
Whats the point of the lights on the back
They think it looks cool 🤷🏻♂️
Do you think that Vtecs should be banned? I do
I have two championships and multiple wins against Vtecs. If they ban Vtec they gotta ban VVT ecotecs and that’s what I run.
i had same blinking shit - changed all spark plugs and wiring - problem solved - in the shop now - bad knocking sensors and crankshaft shaft positioning sensor pooped out on me - causes PCM and ECM/ECU to freak out on me- now it's about $8.5K later in costs still fiddling with my 06 Avalanche = still cheaper than a new car loan on a non-Avalanche - I remain optimistic 148K / 06 Avy first hand with 25 miles off the lot Z71 LT - I love my truck
love it - thanks for sharing
Where can i find tracks in the hudson valley do you know of any do you recomend one for a beginer in ny
I’m in western NY closest I’ve been out that way would be Penn Can which is a nice little track.
I'm in the middle of finishing up a swap on a 79 cutty. Trying to figure out what I'm gonna do for power steering lines or adapters. Right not I've got Silverado ps pressure hose and some amazon gear box adapters but the adapters won't work
its been awhile since I did that but the napa near me had the tool for putting the hyrdaulic line ends on.
@@Raceking46 thanks
I believe you’re running the 2.4 if so how u finding them naturally aspirated?
Most of the 2.4 are naturally aspirated. The 2.4 came in a variety of GM vehicles. I've taken them out of Malibu, HHR, Saturn Aura, G6 and of course the NA Cobalt SS. We just watch marketplace or craigslist til one pops up for cheap and then talk them down even more lol. By the time we scrap the cars and sell parts off them the motors are usually around $50 or less plus the cost of a new timing set. Always and I repeat always do the timing set while you have the motor out don't waste your time installing it without doing it.
hey i gotta question when i race i would always oversteer my car coming out of the corner and i had power steering before i havent raced my new car yet though but it has none is there anything else i should do to stop me from over correcting
Power steering is easy enough to add. The cars setup and of course your right foot is the key to getting off the corner. if you dig back in the archive on this channel you'll find videos on driving. You can also message me on facebook for setup tips if your driving a cobalt.
We bought a 61 beetle in Los Angles sight unseen and took 10 Days driving it home across the US. You saying I don't know how it's it suppose to drive is hilarious. That's exactly what we said in our video as well. I ended up selling it but I miss the turd. Your son did great, held a nice line!
A beetle from California to NY sounds crazy enough without adding sight unseen lol.
Good video I got the 1st hub lol now thinking of going with the second one. What you drinking ?
That liquid death ice tea lol
Nice gotta try it ! Haha
Hey Brad how did you get your tach to work with the 2.4?
you need a tach that will read one cylinder and then you just hook it to a coil wire. not sure off hand which wire tho.
How do I order a wiring harness
Find Andy Schumaker on Facebook
Is there a good way to bend that back if the plate is already bent?
We haven’t had any luck trying to bend it back
I have been needing this video
The 198 really held you up! Btw..Thank you again on the air pressure setups for my race last night! Worked great! I just need to work on the brake setup.
I’ve always wanted to race Mini stocks
Didn’t know you knew Ryan Plante or well Mr Peanut
I watch you and Curt rung at Ransomville and you guys are some of the best ones Great Race! Sincerely, Brad whiteside & Curt Rung fan!
Hey bro do tou think this season you will came race 1time at granby or drummondville speedway in quebec canada ! :)
I'd have to look at the rules and If they'll let a patriot like me across the border lol. Gotten pretty communist up there.
Both rule books are in french lol probably not
Dont pry directly on the countershaft mounting flange It is aluminum and it will snap off and go flying.I use 2 screw drivers and try to distribute the prying on both sides. Hope this helps someone before they have to hit the scrap yard for that hard to find piece.
Love the concept of the repurposed Batmobile.
you should try bf Goodrich ta radials tires night and day difference on the track
Do you run the 2.4 intake and if so do you use the 2.4 or 2.2 throttle body?
Yes I run the big runner with the 2.4 TB. My car has always been a 2.4. Some guys run the 2.2TB but I believe it’s been Dyno proven that the 2.4 TB is better.
@@Raceking46I'd like to pick your brain a bit if I could. Do you have an email or some other contact info?
I have used same flywheels bolts for 4 years. about 6-7 times changing them. just torque them and haven had issues yet. As a matter of fact i re use all the bolts except Rod bolts i buy new every time
Do you seam weld your race car ??
I do not. Thats more demo car stuff. As much as I don't want to total my race car I also want it to bend in the event of a hard wreck so I don't get hurt. That being said I've wrecked hard a few times and so far have had no problems bending it back.
Thanks
Can you make a video hooking the wires up to them. I got the same set up
Unfortunately this car is long gone and I don't have video for the finished product.
I would never use a OEM/aftermarket black RH timing chain guide as a far stronger version is available in the US, including stronger fixing bolts or the Dorman top bolt can be used. An upgraded tensioner is worth fitting as well (they are primarily for engines fitted with stronger valve springs & producing high revs.). The valve cover should always be fitted either with an AC Delco FC219 filler cap or a catch can should be fitted.
We spin these regularly over 7500 rpm and have yet to have a problem on any of them but yes if someone is worried about it by all means upgrade the parts.
What was the disrespect all about towards the class?
The sprint cars threw a hissy fit claiming we were gonna ruin their race track and wanted our whole show moved to the end of the night.
Wow you got to be kidding me!
Definitely gonna keep that piece of information with push and toeing out that LF from heat races. Small piece from that whole video is pretty spot on. Could literally see the pull more left when on the throttle.
Terrible track conditions!
Are u following the northeast scdra the whole season?
No I’ll run both outlaw races but that’s probably it.
Hey man could u do a video on the best stiff rear shocks/spring set up and fronts ! I run ashfault tho but looking for some tips
we run KYB replacement shocks and struts nothing special really. For springs we're limited to factory options so for a cobalt G6, Malibu, HHR for the right side of the car. Really depends on your rule book, I know most asphalt tracks limit your left side weight percentage so definitely harder for you guys.
What happens if cam sprockets aren’t at 10 and 2 position when rotated to tdc?
if you don't have the timing right the valves will hit the pistons. If your trying to find TDC to take it apart sometimes you have to rotate it alot of times over before it will line up perfectly.
@@Raceking46 when I’m rotating the engine there is a bit of tension and then a click does this mean piston valve contact?
@@jt_hoopz6384 with out seeing it for myself hard to say but if the timing marks on the chain lined up with the marks on the gears at tdc you should be fine.
