God what a stupid design. Intake over the blazing hot exhaust but damnit if it didnt sound great. One of the best engines ive ever heard. Maybe it wasn't such a stupid design after all.
@@geardrivensteam it was supposed to get installed into a 1934 Plymouth 4 door PE sedan, but that had to be sold and the buyer did not want it either. I feel the same about the Ford flathead engines. I have four of them, I had to sell off 10 of the others. Dad died and left all kinds of stuff behind. Trying to find buyers when you are on a deadline and you're trying to live in two different places that are 680 miles apart, really sux.
@@geardrivensteam you’re very welcome! I meant that from the heart. My Pisces intuition tells me you’ve got some amazing stories and I just love how you keep it 💯 real. You’re style is right along Billy Joe Shaver and Waylon’s railroad tracks… look forward to your future vids. You did Ol Merle right with this one. Ps Brother I was your 100th sub! Wooo Hoo! 🎉 have a great day!
Looks very good RRR. I agree with you in that I’d pull that plug with the 1/16 hole in it and use an .040 hole. That is PLENTY of oil with a .040 hole.
Miss that sound, 12 lifters make 3 times the lifter noise the a Harley engine, Victoria had that beuityful sound, my 66 low deck 170 /6. Thank you from this rusty dusty old fart
IDK if that’s a lot or not. If it were I, a degree wheel would help decipher how much is actually there. Considering it is spinning only one way ….. I do see how the minor amount can be irritating, which is probably more mental than anything. Whose gear drive? Milodon, IIRC, said a newspaper page clearance was needed.
Look at the latest video on it. I got it where I want it now. I agree, it has to have SOME clearance. I haven't put the degree wheel on it YET, because I don't have the final camshaft I plan to run. That's a few dead presidents down the road. lol
Agree, there is slop, I have never pulled a trimming chain on a slant six or checked slop in one, looking forward to seeing a new chain and gear set in that to see the drag slop a chain has, I am sure you have My friend. memike.
You’re in good shape with that one. Two degrees or less is tolerance for most diesel gear drive systems. Oil clearance and heat expansion will make that run even tighter. With the fixed idler pressurized lubrication spraying the gear set, it’s probably not going to be as noisy as expected.
Yup. Crower Cam Savers. Very expensive. The valving in them was defective. They would tick when hot. The faces and cam broke in great. I wasn't taking any chances, so I yanked um and replaced um.
I see you've got a 351m too. I will definitely agree they are good engines for sure. I also see you still have the old ac compressor. Mine hasn't had that since I was like 10. Haven't even seen one in years. Great video man. I'll be posting up here soon
That inline slant six banger sounds like a V8.
Gonna run a high flow Y-pipe exhaust?
Yup. A Flowmaster wye.

damn thos sound nice
Sounds awesome! Reminds me of the old dirt track cars back in the late 80s early 90s!
Sounds good Rob! What brand are they?
Thanks. Clifford. Got them used from VitaminDart
I threw away a 225 slant 6 and a torque flite trans because I couldn't find anyone who wanted it.
@@markk3652 Lots of people have, unfortunately.

Been a while since I heard that one.
Sounds good, you're a better singer than me, that's for sure! It doesn't matter how you play as much as it does THAT you play. Keep it up!
Nice! I am driving Casper my 72 F100 today.
Awesome! ❤
Done very well brother, an old great song.
Loved hearing this song on this sunny day, great job on a song my uncle's would do out around the fire..
I remember this one from church retreats 30 years ago. Great song Rusty.

Oh and it's a modified CAT gear drive for a 440. I changed it to a single fixed idler.

Oil film will help with the clearance. Should run well.
