    Does anyone know which cpu between intel and ryzen handles prores 422 better?

    • @polymorphcomputers
      @polymorphcomputers Před rokem

      For ProRes both Intel and AMD are very much neck and neck in the high end consumer segment. Both a i9 13900k, and R9 7950x will offer virtually the same performance within 1-2% of each other, the same is true about the 13700k and the 7900x. Where Intel starts to win over the race, is at the mid end with it's 13600k and 12700k performing basically the same, both leading the 7700x and 5950x by a good 5-7%. If you're looking at the high end, choose whichever platform (CPU+RAM+MB) ends up being cheaper, unless you tend to export more than you edit on that PC, because then I'd recommend AMD for the better power draw. If you're looking at the 300-ish $/€ segment, definitely Intel's 13600k! Also you'll gain more flexibility with H.265 and Quicksync especially, because who knows what the future brings in terms of cameras. Sorry for the late reply, hope this helps!;)

    As someone who really need an upgrate i am in really tough spot. Like my 1060 6gb will soon be obsolete due to VRAM hungry games. And it served me for 7 years , its was an amazing product that i dont know how to upgrate really. With these prices and performances that Nvidia/amd offers i dont see any GPU that is worth buying. 4070 with 12gb is nice but overpriced and i would prefer somthing with more Vram. 4080 is too expensive for me. AMD offers more VRAM but ray tracing and fsr is really bad. And lets not even think about 4060 ti with 8gb , or upcoming 16gb with 128 bit bus for 499$. GPU market is shit, and i dont know how to upgrate my old 1060. I might wait for 5000 even i am in no hurry but i dont think that somthing will change too much even with 5000 series. Nvidia and AMD are just too greedy.

      If you are doing very fast manual focus pulls it's not that great.. cheaper monitors are known for being bad in this category but I found even the cheaper SmallHD to be pretty lackluster when it comes to input lag. For what it's worth, it's very usable compared to other options for everything including pans and slow focus pulls, but for faster ones I would recommend using a focus wheel with stops, so you can mark both ends of the pull without ever overshooting.

Intel has never give me hiccups, AMD is good but the constant bluescreen when you hit a thermal threshold is one annoying b1tch. Not suitable for workstation at all.

    I bought my 3080 10gb FE last summer for retail. You're saying they go for 650 on ebay used? That's around retail. This gpu upgrade has been amazing for me, I went from a r9 390 which was terrible and would run loud and hot not even doing much. But I was editing my gopro hero11 8:7 10bit 5.3k footage in resolve and I noticed how super choppy it was and I found out the reason is resolve limits you from using your own media engines based on how much vram you have. Resolve says 8gb of vram is bare minimum for 4k so I suppose square format 5k is above their semi artificial limit and then it is played in software on my ryzen cpu. h265 runs bad in software on any cpu I suppose my my ryzen cpu is especially bad at it. So I've been getting some FOMO regarding not waiting longer and getting a GPU with way more VRAM as it seems for creative work 10gb isn't that much. But the 4000 series has come out and it's so much more expensive, I suppose unless you go for the 4090 which isn't as big of a price jump from 3090 as the rest are. I'm seeing gaming reviews of the 4070 saying how no gpu should have less than 16gb vram and that 3000 series cards are gonna age like fish and the used prices will tumble because of this. Should I sell my 3080 and buy something else or should I just use it and be happy with it and get like a 5080 or 5090 when they come out which will have the VRAM? IDK.

I have the 4070 Ti as well and for what i had to what i have now i have no complaints @ 1440p and doing 165Hz. And VRAM isnt a issue as i dont try to max out every game which will have you chasing after gpu after gpu to get the max settings thus give me high settings and im good.

  • @SuperMopga

    Well, today 4070 Ti starts from 879 EUR while 7900 XT starts from 849. But for 7900 XTX the price is ridiculously high - 1119 EUR! That makes it almost 300 EUR more! While from MSRP point of view it should be only 100 EUR! My card is 10 years old but I can still play old or indie games at 1440p. I am eager to buy 4070 Ti or 7900 XT despite of their current prices, but still can't choose which one. And 12 Gb on 4070 Ti bothers me, because AFAIK nextgen consoles will have 16 Gb of VRAM. That can be a problem in the future. PS. Please, don't forget that US prices are NOT include sales tax, so final price is more than listed.

    I know that my opinion here is in minority, but most of us probably have some GPU at this moment, so after upgrade you will probably sell your current GPU at second market, so basicly we are talking not about full price, but about difference. Then ask yourself, how much time have you spend actualy using your current GPU and will spend using 40 gen, maybe calculate a price of an hour. 40 gen is not a bad deal, especialy in comparison to mining boom prices.

    @1440p the 192 bitbus the bandwidth will be fine and the benchmarks show this to be true. It does struggle at 4k though. The biggest issue is if you want a new gpu the 30 series is still so expensive that it's madness not to go for a 40 card. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

    • @DETERMINOLOGY
      @DETERMINOLOGY Před rokem

      Yall solid for ripping on the 4070 Ti which everyone is doing. Yall not talking about how ALL NVIDIA gpus are high tho. 40 series and the 30 series is HIGH and you can sit around and wait 50 series will be high as well or go for it Also people talk about the memory bus as thats the main factor of the card, No its the card as a whole that makes the speed. If the memory bus was 256 bit the memory bandwidth would would be much higher giving you a higher priced card which is a faster card so they had to cut something somewhere. NV always has options to cut on cards they may cut the cores but boost something somewhere else or something always been like this. 192 memory bus is lower then 256 but again it doesnt dictate the full answer you have to see the card as a whole such as Rops, Pixel Rate, Texture Rate, Texture Mapping Units, Shading Units, Gpu memory Speed, And so on
